* i2c: move OF helpers into the coreWolfram Sang2013-08-23
| | | | | | | | | | I2C of helpers used to live in of_i2c.c but experience (from SPI) shows that it is much cleaner to have this in the core. This also removes a circular dependency between the helpers and the core, and so we can finally register child nodes in the core instead of doing this manually in each driver. So, fix the drivers and documentation, too. Signed-off-by: Wolfram Sang <wsa@the-dreams.de>
* of/i2c: add dummy inline functions for when CONFIG_OF_I2C(_MODULE) isn't definedGuennadi Liakhovetski2012-12-11
| | | | | | | | | If CONFIG_OF_I2C and CONFIG_OF_I2C_MODULE are undefined no declaration of of_find_i2c_device_by_node and of_find_i2c_adapter_by_node will be available. Add dummy inline functions to avoid compilation breakage. Signed-off-by: Guennadi Liakhovetski <g.liakhovetski@gmx.de> Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>
* of/i2c: implement of_find_i2c_adapter_by_nodeStephen Warren2012-05-12
| | | | | | | | This finds the struct i2c_adapter * for a given device tree node. Just like of_find_i2c_device_by_node. Signed-off-by: Stephen Warren <swarren@nvidia.com> Signed-off-by: Wolfram Sang <w.sang@pengutronix.de>
* of/i2c: Generalize OF supportGrant Likely2010-07-05
| | | | | | | This patch cleans up the i2c OF support code to make it selectable by all architectures and allow for automatic registration of i2c devices. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>
* drivers/of: Add the of_find_i2c_device_by_node function.Jon Smirl2009-01-09
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The of_find_i2c_device_by_node function allows you to follow a reference in the device tree to an i2c device node and then locate the linux device instantiated by the device tree. Example use: an I2S bus driver finding the i2c_device instance for a codec described by a device tree node. This was waiting for Anton's i2c patches that were just added. * [POWERPC] Fix of_i2c include for module compilationJochen Friedrich2008-05-09
| | | | | | | | | Remove #ifdef CONFIG_OF_I2C as this breaks module compilation. Drivers using this header should depend on OF_I2C anyways, so there's no need to make this conditional. Signed-off-by: Jochen Friedrich <jochen@scram.de> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
* [POWERPC] i2c: OF helpers for the i2c APIJochen Friedrich2008-04-16
This implements various helpers to support OF bindings for the i2c API. Signed-off-by: Jochen Friedrich <jochen@scram.de> Acked-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net> Acked-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
