* [NET]: Proper comment for loopback initialization order.Denis V. Lunev2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | Loopback device is special. It should be initialized at the very beginning. Initialization order has been changed by Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@xmission.com> and this change is non-obvious and important enough to add proper comment. Signed-off-by: Denis V. Lunev <den@openvz.org> Signed-off-by: David S. * [NET]: Move hardware header operations out of netdevice.Stephen Hemminger2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | Since hardware header operations are part of the protocol class not the device instance, make them into a separate object and save memory. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [NET]: Wrap hard_header_parseStephen Hemminger2007-10-10

* [NET]: Wrap netdevice hardware header creation.Stephen Hemminger2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | Add inline for common usage of hardware header creation, and fix bug in IPV6 mcast where the assumption about negative return is an errno. Negative return from hard_header means not enough space was available,(ie -N bytes). Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: David S. * [NET]: Remove no longer relevant comment in loopback driver.David S. Miller2007-10-10

* [NET]: Make the loopback device per network namespace.Eric W. Biederman2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch makes loopback_dev per network namespace. Adding code to create a different loopback device for each network namespace and adding the code to free a loopback device when a network namespace exits. This patch modifies all users the loopback_dev so they access it as init_net.loopback_dev, keeping all of the code compiling and working. A later pass will be needed to update the users to use something other than the initial network namespace. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@xmission.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [NET]: Dynamically allocate the per cpu counters for the loopback device.Eric W. Biederman2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | This patch add support for dynamically allocating the statistics counters for the loopback device and adds appropriate device methods for allocating and freeing the loopback device. This completes support for creating multiple instances of the loopback device, in preparation for creating per network namespace instances. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@xmission.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* [LIBERTAS]: fix interrupts in CF driverRyan Mallon2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | The following patch fixes the tx transmit timeout problem, which is caused by the interrupts being incorrectly check and masked. The patch moves the interrupt masking code so that interrupts are enabled only when the driver is registered and only disabled when the driver is unregistered. * [B43LEGACY]: Change the hardware radio enable logic and cleanup codeLarry Finger2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This change cleans up the radio-related messages in several ways. (1) The state of the rfkill switch is assumed to be on, rather than tested. Now, any user without such a switch will not see any messages. For devices with such a switch, a message will be logged only if the initial state is off, or if the switch is toggled. (2) The routine for testing the switch state is no longer inline. (3) The LED handling routine is simplified. (4) The "Radio turned off" message that has confused some users has been changed to "Radio initialized". This patch is patterned after a similar change to b43 by Michael Buesch. * [B43LEGACY]: Support for turning the radio off from software.Larry Finger2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | This adds support for turning the radio off in software. That's useful in environments, where you don't want the RF to radiate any signals, but don't want to bring the interface down. This patch is based on a similar patch of b43 by Michael Buesch. * [BCM43XX]: Change radio hardware switch status printk from debug to regularLarry Finger2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Some distros ship bcm43xx with debugging printout disabled. For those BCM43xx devices with radio on/off switches, this makes it impossible to know if the radio is on or off. This patch changes a pair of debug printk's into ordinary printk's. It also changes the message that prints when the radio is initialized to the off state as the old message seems to confuse users. * [NET]: Dynamically allocate the loopback device, part 2.Daniel Lezcano2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | Doing this makes loopback.c a better example of how to do a simple network device, and it removes the special case single static allocation of a struct net_device, hopefully making maintenance easier. * [NET]: Dynamically allocate the loopback device, part 1.Daniel Lezcano2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch replaces all occurences to the static variable loopback_dev to a pointer loopback_dev.
