* mei: simplify io callback disposalTomas Winkler2015-03-01
| | | | | | | | Simplify disposal of io callback by removing the callback implicitly from its lookup list inside mei_io_cb_free Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: always initialize the callback with the intended operation typeTomas Winkler2015-03-01
| | | | | | | | | | | We set the operation type at initialization time as each cb is used only for a single type of operation As a byproduct we add a convenient wrapper for allocating cb with the data buffer. Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

* mei: fix hbm MEI_HBM_STARTED ambiguityTomas Winkler2014-11-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | We have MEI_HBM_STARTED in two contexts one after start message was received and second after enumeration was completed. Because after start message reception we move immediately to the enumeration state, we need only the later meaning. Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: hbm: use client specific print functionsAlexander Usyskin2014-11-03
| | | | | | | | | We have host client in connect/disconnect response processors, so use client print functions to simplify and unify code. Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: drop unneeded client NULL check in cb structureAlexander Usyskin2014-11-03
| | | | | | | | | | | The pointer to client in the callback structure (cb->cl) can't be NULL with current locking. We can drop check and warnings as in some cases this just uselessly complicates the code flow. Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

* mei: wd and amthif use mei_cl_ api for dis/connectionTomas Winkler2014-02-18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Connect wd and amthif through regular mei_cl_connect API as there is no reason to connect in asynchronous mode. Also use mei_cl_is_connected in order to protect flows instead of depending on wd_pending and amthif_timer Now we can remove all the special handling in hbm layer Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: hbm: revamp client connect and disconnection statusAlexander Usyskin2014-02-18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 1. Return -ENOTTY on client connect if the requested client was not found on the enumeration list or the client was internally disabled, in the later case FW will return NOT_FOUND. 2. Return -EBUSY if the client cannot be connected because of resource contention 3. Change response status enum to have MEI_CL_ prefix 4. Add function to translate response status to a string for more readable logging Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

* mei: rename MEI_FOP_IOCTL to MEI_FOP_CONNECTTomas Winkler2014-02-14
| | | | | | | | This operation actually only support connection and not a generic ioctl Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: allow multiple retries if the hw reset has failedTomas Winkler2014-02-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | | In some rare case mei hw reset may take long time to settle. Instead of blocking resume flow we span another driver reset flow in separate work context This allows as to shorten hw reset timeout to something more acceptable by DPM_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: revamp mei reset state machineTomas Winkler2014-01-13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 1. MEI_DEV_RESETTING device state spans only hardware reset flow while starting dev state is saved into a local variable for further reference, this let us to reduce big if statements in case we are trying to avoid nested resets 2. During initializations if the reset ended in MEI_DEV_DISABLED device state we bail out with -ENODEV 3. Remove redundant interrupts_enabled parameter as this can be deduced from the starting dev_state 4. mei_reset propagates error code to the caller 5. Add mei_restart function to wrap the pci resume Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

* mei: use hbm idle state to prevent spurious resetsTomas Winkler2014-01-08
| | | | | | | | | | | When reset is caused by hbm protocol mismatch or timeout we might end up in an endless reset loop and hbm protocol will never sync Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: do not run reset flow from the interrupt threadTomas Winkler2014-01-08
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This fixes a potential deadlock in case of a firmware initiated reset mei_reset has a dialog with the interrupt thread hence it has to be run from an another work item Most of the mei_resets were called from mei_hbm_dispatch which is called in interrupt thread context so this function underwent major revamp. The error code is propagated to the interrupt thread and if needed the reset is scheduled from there. Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

|\ | | | | | | | | | | | | We need/want the mei fixes in here so we can apply other updates that are depending on them. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
| * mei: make me client counters less error proneTomas Winkler2013-09-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 1. u8 counters are prone to hard to detect overflow: make them unsigned long to match bit_ functions argument type 2. don't check me_clients_num for negativity, it is unsigned. 3. init all the me client counters from one place Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> # 3.9+ Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* | mei: propagate error from write routines instead of ENODEVTomas Winkler2013-09-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ENODEV will cause application to try to reconnect since it assumes that device went through the reset write errors are not always fatal it can happen due to resource contention Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* | mei: fix format compilation warrning on 32 bit architectureTomas Winkler2013-09-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | hbm.c: In function mei_hbm_me_cl_allocate: hbm.c:52:212: warning: format %zd expects argument of type signed size_t but argument 4 has type long unsigned Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* | mei: make sure that me_clients_map big enough before copyingTomas Winkler2013-09-26
|/ | | | | | | | | | To make static analyzers happy validated that sizeof me_clients_map is larger than sizeof valid_addresses from the enumeration response before memcpy We can use BUILD_ON macro as both arrays are defined statically Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
