Tetsuo Handa reported that sporadically the system clock starts
counting up too quickly which is enough to confuse the hangcheck
timer to print a bogus stall warning.
Commit 2a8c0883 "time: Move xtime_nsec adjustment underflow handling
timekeeping_adjust" overlooked this exit path:

which should really be a proper exit sequence, fixing the bug as a
side effect.
Also make the flow more readable by properly balancing curly
braces.

Pull VFS fixes and cleanups from Al Viro.
Most of this is the series to remove sync_supers() and the
->write_supers VFS callback from Artem Bityutskiy. One commit to do the

Finally we can kill the 'sync_supers' kernel thread along with the
'->write_super()' superblock operation because all the users are gone.
Now every file-system is supposed to self-manage own superblock and
its dirty state.
The nice thing about killing this thread is that it improves power management.
Indeed, 'sync_supers' is a source of monotonic system wake-ups - it woke up
every 5 seconds no matter what - even if there were no dirty superblocks and
even if there were no file-systems using this service (e.g., btrfs and
journalled ext4 do not need it). So it was wasting power most of the time. And
because the thread was in the core of the kernel, all systems had to have it.
So I am quite happy to make it go away.
Interestingly, this thread is a left-over from the pdflush kernel thread which
was a self-forking kernel thread responsible for all the write-back in old
Linux kernels. It was turned into per-block device BDI threads, and
'sync_supers' was a left-over. Thus, R.I.P, pdflush as well.

If acpi_pci_osc_support() fails for the given flags, it doesn't make
sense to call acpi_pci_osc_control_set() down the road for the same
flags, because it will certainly fail too. Moreover, problem
diagnostics is then harder, because it is not too easy to identify
the reason of the _OSC failure in those cases.
For this reason, check the status returned by acpi_pci_osc_support()
for PCIe support flags and do not attempt to execute
acpi_pci_osc_control_set() for those flags and print a message if
it's "failure". For compatibility with the existing code, disable
ASPM in that case too.

If CONFIG_ACPI_SLEEP is unset, the compiler complains that

_GTS and _BFS were added to the suspend/resume flow
in the ACPI 2.0 specification.
Linux dutifully implemented _GTS and _BFS.
We discovered that it was rarely seen in systems
in the field. Further, some of those systems had
AML so bogus that it could never work -- proof that
no other operating system supports _GTS and _BFS.
So we made _GTS and _BFS optional via modparam,
and disabled them by default.
But we've had to complicate some code to keep
this support in the kernel, as these methods are defined
to be evaluated very close to sleep entry and exit.
Indeed, no other AML is ever evaluated with interrupts off.
We have submitted a proposal for _GTS and _BFS
to be officially removed from the ACPI specification
on the next revision. Here we remove it from Linux.

_ios_obj() is accessed by group_index not device_table index.
The oc->comps array is only a group_full of devices at a time
it is not like ore_comp_dev() which is indexed by a global
device_table index.
This did not BUG until now because exofs only uses a single
COMP for all devices. But with other FSs like PanFS this is
not true.
This bug was only in the write_path, all other users were
using it correctly

exofs_max_io_pages should just use the ORE's
calculated layout->max_io_length,
And avoid unnecessary BUGs, calculations made here were
also a layering violation.

It is very common for the end of the file to be unaligned on
stripe size. But since we know it's beyond file's end then
the XOR should be preformed with all zeros.
Old code used to just read zeros out of the OSD devices, which is a great
waist. But what scares me more about this situation is that, we now have
pages attached to the file's mapping that are beyond i_size. I don't
like the kind of bugs this calls for.
Fix both birds, by returning a global ZERO_PAGE, if offset is beyond
i_size.

Exofs has the '->write_super()' handler and makes some use of the '->s_dirt'
superblock flag, but it really needs neither of them because it never sets
's_dirt' to one which means the VFS never calls its '->write_super()' handler.
Thus, remove both.
Note, I am trying to remove both 's_dirt' and 'write_super()' from VFS
altogether once all users are gone.

readpage_strip can be called from several code paths all of which
require that the page be locked before any operations are carried
out.
Since we export the exofs_readpage callback to the VFS, add a
BUG_ON to check for PageLocked(page) to make sure that this
understanding is never compromised.

When a guest migrates to a new host, the system time difference from the
previous host is used in the updates to the kvmclock system time visible
to the guest, resulting in a continuation of correct kvmclock based guest
timekeeping.
The wall clock component of the kvmclock provided time is currently not
updated with this same time offset. Since the Linux guest caches the
wall clock based time, this discrepency is not noticed until the guest is
rebooted. After reboot the guest's time calculations are off.
This patch adjusts the wall clock by the kvmclock_offset, resulting in
correct guest time after a reboot.

After commit 242ec97c358256 PIT interrupts are no longer delivered after
PIC reset. It happens because PIT injects interrupt only if previous one
was acked, but since on PIC reset it is dropped from irr it will never
be delivered and hence acknowledged. Fix that by calling ack notifier on
PIC reset.

Check if the chip has provided a write operation (which is mandatory for
I/O) rather than looking for control data as some of the MFDs use a global
for this. Also skip the attempt if there's no regmap available by device
in case things get confused by the attempt to default.

Since commit 38cbf9598feba97de9f9b43efa9153fd7c1a2ec9
("ASoC: core: Try to use regmap if the driver doesn't set up any I/O")
any ASoC codec which doesn't set codec::control_data is assumed
to use regmap. That doesn't work with AC97 so this workaround
sets the codec::control_data member to a random value to restore
proper behaviour.
Tested with WM9712.
