* lguest: Map switcher text R/ORusty Russell2016-01-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Pavel noted that lguest maps the switcher code executable and read-write. This is a bad idea for any kernel text, but particularly for text mapped at a fixed address. Create two vmas, one for the text (PAGE_KERNEL_RX) and another for the stacks (PAGE_KERNEL). Use VM_NO_GUARD to map them adjacent (as expected by the rest of the code). * lguest: suppress interrupts for single insn, not range.Rusty Russell2015-03-23
| | | | | | | | | | The last patch reduced our interrupt-suppression region to one address, so simplify the code somewhat. Also, remove the obsolete undefined instruction ranges and the comment which refers to lguest_guest.S instead of head_32.S. Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au>
* lguest: map Switcher below fixmap.Rusty Russell2013-04-22
| | | | | | | | | | | | Now we've adjusted all the code, we can simply set switcher_addr to wherever it needs to go below the fixmaps, rather than asserting that it should be so. With large NR_CPUS and PAE, people were hitting the "mapping switcher would thwack fixmap" message. Reported-by: Paul Bolle <pebolle@tiscali.nl> Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au>
* lguest: assume Switcher text is a single page.Rusty Russell2013-04-22
| | | | | | | | ie. SHARED_SWITCHER_PAGES == 1. It is well under a page, and it's a minor simplification: it's nice to have *one* simplification in a patch series! Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au>
* lguest: prepare to make SWITCHER_ADDR a variable.Rusty Russell2013-04-22
| | | | | | | | We currently use the whole top PGD entry for the switcher, but that's hitting the fixmap in some configurations (mainly, large NR_CPUS). Introduce a variable, currently set to the constant. Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au>

| * lguest: fix comment styleRusty Russell2009-07-30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I don't really notice it (except to begrudge the extra vertical space), but Ingo does. And he pointed out that one excuse of lguest is as a teaching tool, it should set a good example. Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au> Cc: Ingo Molnar <mingo@redhat.com>
* | x86: Introduce GDT_ENTRY_INIT()Akinobu Mita2009-08-08
|/ | | | | | | | | | | GDT_ENTRY_INIT is static initializer of desc_struct. We already have similar macro GDT_ENTRY() but it's static initializer for u64 and it cannot be used for desc_struct. * x86: cleanup some remaining usages of NR_CPUS where s/b nr_cpu_idsMike Travis2009-01-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Impact: Reduce future system panics due to cpumask operations using NR_CPUS Insure that code does not look at bits >= nr_cpu_ids as when cpumasks are allocated based on nr_cpu_ids, these extra bits will not be defined. Also some other minor updates: * change in to use cpu accessor function set_cpu_present() instead of directly accessing cpu_present_map w/cpu_clear() [arch/x86/kernel/reboot.c] * use cpumask_of() instead of &cpumask_of_cpu() [arch/x86/kernel/reboot.c] * optimize some cpu_mask_to_apicid_and functions.
