* block: get rid of bio_rw and READAChristoph Hellwig2016-07-20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These two are confusing leftover of the old world order, combining values of the REQ_OP_ and REQ_ namespaces. For callers that don't special case we mostly just replace bi_rw with bio_data_dir or op_is_write, except for the few cases where a switch over the REQ_OP_ values makes more sense. Any check for READA is replaced with an explicit check for REQ_RAHEAD. Also remove the READA alias for REQ_RAHEAD. * block, drivers, fs: rename REQ_FLUSH to REQ_PREFLUSHMike Christie2016-06-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | To avoid confusion between REQ_OP_FLUSH, which is handled by request_fn drivers, and upper layers requesting the block layer perform a flush sequence along with possibly a WRITE, this patch renames REQ_FLUSH to REQ_PREFLUSH. * block, fs, drivers: remove REQ_OP compat defs and related codeMike Christie2016-06-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch drops the compat definition of req_op where it matches the rq_flag_bits definitions, and drops the related old and compat code that allowed users to set either the op or flags for the operation. We also then store the operation in the bi_rw/cmd_flags field similar to how we used to store the bio ioprio where it sat in the upper bits of the field. * f2fs: support revoking atomic written pagesChao Yu2016-02-22
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | f2fs support atomic write with following semantics: 1. open db file 2. ioctl start atomic write 3. (write db file) * n 4. ioctl commit atomic write 5. close db file With this flow we can avoid file becoming corrupted when abnormal power cut, because we hold data of transaction in referenced pages linked in inmem_pages list of inode, but without setting them dirty, so these data won't be persisted unless we commit them in step 4. But we should still hold journal db file in memory by using volatile write, because our semantics of 'atomic write support' is incomplete, in step 4, we could fail to submit all dirty data of transaction, once partial dirty data was committed in storage, then after a checkpoint & abnormal power-cut, db file will be corrupted forever. So this patch tries to improve atomic write flow by adding a revoking flow, once inner error occurs in committing, this gives another chance to try to revoke these partial submitted data of current transaction, it makes committing operation more like aotmical one. If we're not lucky, once revoking operation was failed, EAGAIN will be reported to user for suggesting doing the recovery with held journal file, or retrying current transaction again. * | f2fs: Export the enums in the tracepoints to userspaceSteven Rostedt (Red Hat)2015-04-08
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The tracepoints that use __print_symbolic() use enums as the value to convert to strings. Unfortunately, the format files for these tracepoints show the enum name and not their value. This causes some userspace tools not to know how to convert __print_symbolic() to their strings. Add TRACE_DEFINE_ENUM() macros to export the enums used to userspace to let those tools know what those enum values are. * f2fs: merge flags in struct f2fs_sb_infoChao Yu2015-02-11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently, there are several variables with Boolean type as below: struct f2fs_sb_info { ... int s_dirty; bool need_fsck; bool s_closing; ... bool por_doing; ... } For this there are some issues: 1. there are some space of f2fs_sb_info is wasted due to aligning after Boolean type variables by compiler. 2. if we continuously add new flag into f2fs_sb_info, structure will be messed up. So in this patch, we try to: 1. switch s_dirty to Boolean type variable since it has two status 0/1. 2. merge s_dirty/need_fsck/s_closing/por_doing variables into s_flag. 3. introduce an enum type which can indicate different states of sbi. 4. use new introduced universal interfaces is_sbi_flag_set/{set,clear}_sbi_flag to operate flags for sbi. * | f2fs: refactor bio-related operationsJaegeuk Kim2013-12-22
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch integrates redundant bio operations on read and write IOs. 1. Move bio-related codes to the top of data.c. 2. Replace f2fs_submit_bio with f2fs_submit_merged_bio, which handles read bios additionally. 3. Introduce __submit_merged_bio to submit the merged bio. 4. Change f2fs_readpage to f2fs_submit_page_bio. 5. Introduce f2fs_submit_page_mbio to integrate previous submit_read_page and submit_write_page.
