* net/netrom: Fix socket lockingJean Delvare2009-04-22
| | | | | | | | | | Patch "af_rose/x25: Sanity check the maximum user frame size" (commit 83e0bbcbe2145f160fbaa109b0439dae7f4a38a9) from Alan Cox got locking wrong. If we bail out due to user frame size being too large, we must unlock the socket beforehand. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <jdelvare@suse.de> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* Revert "netrom: zero length frame filtering in NetRom"David S. Miller2009-03-27
| | | | | | | | | This reverts commit a3ac80a130300573de351083cf4a5b46d233e8bf. Alan Cox says that zero length writes do have special meaning and are useful in this protocol. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* netrom: zero length frame filtering in NetRomBernard Pidoux2009-03-21
| | | | | | | | | | A zero length frame filter was recently introduced in ROSE protocole. Previous commit makes the same at AX25 protocole level. This patch has the same purpose for NetRom protocole. The reason is that empty frames have no meaning in NetRom protocole. Signed-off-by: Bernard Pidoux <f6bvp@amsat.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I want to compile out proc_* and sysctl_* handlers totally and stub them to NULL depending on config options, however usage of & will prevent this, since taking adress of NULL pointer will break compilation. So, drop & in front of every ->proc_handler and every ->strategy handler, it was never needed in fact. Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * | CRED: Wrap task credential accesses in the netrom protocolDavid Howells2008-11-13
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Wrap access to task credentials so that they can be separated more easily from the task_struct during the introduction of COW creds. Change most current->(|e|s|fs)[ug]id to current_(|e|s|fs)[ug]id(). Change some task->e?[ug]id to task_e?[ug]id(). * netdev: Allocate multiple queues for TX.David S. Miller2008-07-17
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | alloc_netdev_mq() now allocates an array of netdev_queue structures for TX, based upon the queue_count argument. Furthermore, all accesses to the TX queues are now vectored through the netdev_get_tx_queue() and netdev_for_each_tx_queue() interfaces. This makes it easy to grep the tree for all things that want to get to a TX queue of a net device. Problem spots which are not really multiqueue aware yet, and only work with one queue, can easily be spotted by grepping for all netdev_get_tx_queue() calls that pass in a zero index. * netdev: Move _xmit_lock and xmit_lock_owner into netdev_queue.David S. Miller2008-07-09

* netrom: Kill spurious NULL'ing of sk->sk_socket.David S. Miller2008-06-17
| | | | | | | | | | | | In nr_release(), one code path calls sock_orphan() which will NULL out sk->sk_socket already. In the other case, handling states other than NR_STATE_{0,1,2,3}, seems to not be possible other than due to bugs. Even for an uninitialized nr->state value, that would be zero or NR_STATE_0. It might be wise to stick a WARN_ON() here. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* [NET]: Make the device list and device lookups per namespace.Eric W. Biederman2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch makes most of the generic device layer network namespace safe. This patch makes dev_base_head a network namespace variable, and then it picks up a few associated variables. The functions: dev_getbyhwaddr dev_getfirsthwbytype dev_get_by_flags dev_get_by_name __dev_get_by_name dev_get_by_index __dev_get_by_index dev_ioctl dev_ethtool dev_load wireless_process_ioctl were modified to take a network namespace argument, and deal with it. vlan_ioctl_set and brioctl_set were modified so their hooks will receive a network namespace argument. So basically anthing in the core of the network stack that was affected to by the change of dev_base was modified to handle multiple network namespaces. The rest of the network stack was simply modified to explicitly use &init_net the initial network namespace. This can be fixed when those components of the network stack are modified to handle multiple network namespaces. For now the ifindex generator is left global. Fundametally ifindex numbers are per namespace, or else we will have corner case problems with migration when we get that far. At the same time there are assumptions in the network stack that the ifindex of a network device won't change. Making the ifindex number global seems a good compromise until the network stack can cope with ifindex changes when you change namespaces, and the like. Signed-off-by: Eric W. * [NET]: Make device event notification network namespace safeEric W. Biederman2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Every user of the network device notifiers is either a protocol stack or a pseudo device. If a protocol stack that does not have support for multiple network namespaces receives an event for a device that is not in the initial network namespace it quite possibly can get confused and do the wrong thing. To avoid problems until all of the protocol stacks are converted this patch modifies all netdev event handlers to ignore events on devices that are not in the initial network namespace. As the rest of the code is made network namespace aware these checks can be removed. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@xmission.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [NET]: Make socket creation namespace safe.Eric W. Biederman2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch passes in the namespace a new socket should be created in and has the socket code do the appropriate reference counting. By virtue of this all socket create methods are touched. In addition the socket create methods are modified so that they will fail if you attempt to create a socket in a non-default network namespace. Failing if we attempt to create a socket outside of the default network namespace ensures that as we incrementally make the network stack network namespace aware we will not export functionality that someone has not audited and made certain is network namespace safe. Allowing us to partially enable network namespaces before all of the exotic protocols are supported. Any protocol layers I have missed will fail to compile because I now pass an extra parameter into the socket creation code. * [NET]: Make /proc/net per network namespaceEric W. Biederman2007-10-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch makes /proc/net per network namespace. It modifies the global variables proc_net and proc_net_stat to be per network namespace. The proc_net file helpers are modified to take a network namespace argument, and all of their callers are fixed to pass &init_net for that argument. This ensures that all of the /proc/net files are only visible and usable in the initial network namespace until the code behind them has been updated to be handle multiple network namespaces. Making /proc/net per namespace is necessary as at least some files in /proc/net depend upon the set of network devices which is per network namespace, and even more files in /proc/net have contents that are relevant to a single network namespace. | | | | | | | | | | | | Cleanup of dev_base list use, with the aim to simplify making device list per-namespace. * [PATCH] sysctl: remove insert_at_head from register_sysctlEric W. Biederman2007-02-14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The semantic effect of insert_at_head is that it would allow new registered sysctl entries to override existing sysctl entries of the same name. Which is pain for caching and the proc interface never implemented. I have done an audit and discovered that none of the current users of register_sysctl care as (excpet for directories) they do not register duplicate sysctl entries. So this patch simply removes the support for overriding existing entries in the sys_sysctl interface since no one uses it or cares and it makes future enhancments harder. Signed-off-by: Eric W. * [PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.hTim Schmielau2007-02-14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files).
