* lib/nlattr.c: remove redundant includeRasmus Villemoes2015-02-12
| | | | | | | | | | nlattr.c doesn't seem to rely on anything from netdevice.h. Removing it yields identical objdump -d output for each of {allyes,allno,def}config, and eliminates more than 200 lines from the generated dependency file. * | netlink: rate-limit leftover bytes warning and print process nameMichal Schmidt2014-06-02
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | Any process is able to send netlink messages with leftover bytes. Make the warning rate-limited to prevent too much log spam. The warning is supposed to help find userspace bugs, so print the triggering command name to implicate the buggy program. [v2: Use pr_warn_ratelimited instead of printk_ratelimited.] Signed-off-by: Michal Schmidt <mschmidt@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* netlink: don't compare the nul-termination in nla_strcmpPablo Neira2014-04-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | nla_strcmp compares the string length plus one, so it's implicitly including the nul-termination in the comparison. int nla_strcmp(const struct nlattr *nla, const char *str) { int len = strlen(str) + 1; ... d = memcmp(nla_data(nla), str, len); However, if NLA_STRING is used, userspace can send us a string without the nul-termination. This is a problem since the string comparison will not match as the last byte may be not the nul-termination. Fix this by skipping the comparison of the nul-termination if the attribute data is nul-terminated. Suggested by Thomas Graf. * lib: reduce the use of module.h wherever possiblePaul Gortmaker2012-03-07
| | | | | | | | | | For files only using THIS_MODULE and/or EXPORT_SYMBOL, map them onto including export.h -- or if the file isn't even using those, then just delete the include. Fix up any implicit include dependencies that were being masked by module.h along the way. Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com>
* netlink: validate NLA_MSECS lengthJohannes Berg2011-11-04
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | L2TP for example uses NLA_MSECS like this: policy: [L2TP_ATTR_RECV_TIMEOUT] = { .type = NLA_MSECS, }, code: if (info->attrs[L2TP_ATTR_RECV_TIMEOUT]) cfg.reorder_timeout = nla_get_msecs(info->attrs[L2TP_ATTR_RECV_TIMEOUT]); As nla_get_msecs() is essentially nla_get_u64() plus the conversion to a HZ-based value, this will not properly reject attributes from userspace that aren't long enough and might overrun the message. Add NLA_MSECS to the attribute minlen array to check the size properly. * net: fix nla_policy_len to actually _iterate_ over the policyLars Ellenberg2011-02-28
| | | | | | | | | | | Currently nla_policy_len always returns n * NLA_HDRLEN: It loops, but does not advance it's iterator. NLA_UNSPEC == 0 does not contain a .len in any policy. Trivially fixed by adding p++. Signed-off-by: Lars Ellenberg <lars.ellenberg@linbit.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* | netlink: let nlmsg and nla functions take pointer-to-const argsJan Engelhardt2010-11-16
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | The changed functions do not modify the NL messages and/or attributes at all. They should use const (similar to strchr), so that callers which have a const nlmsg/nlattr around can make use of them without casting. While at it, constify a data array. * nlattr: Fix build error with NET offHerbert Xu2009-03-11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | We moved the netlink attribute support from net to lib in order for it to be available for general consumption. However, parts of the code (the bits that we don't need :) really depends on NET because the target object is sk_buff. This patch fixes this by wrapping them in CONFIG_NET. Some EXPORTs have been moved to make this work. Tested-by: Geert Uytterhoeven <Geert.Uytterhoeven@sonycom.com> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
* netlink: Move netlink attribute parsing support to libGeert Uytterhoeven2009-03-04
Netlink attribute parsing may be used even if CONFIG_NET is not set. Move it from net/netlink to lib and control its inclusion based on the new config symbol CONFIG_NLATTR, which is selected by CONFIG_NET.
