commit f3c5c1bfd4 (netfilter: xtables: make ip_tables reentrant)
introduced a performance regression, because stackptr array is shared by
all cpus, adding cache line ping pongs. (16 cpus share a 64 bytes cache
line)
Fix this using alloc_percpu()

Correct sk_forward_alloc handling for error_queue would need to use a
backlog of frames that softirq handler could not deliver because socket
is owned by user thread. Or extend backlog processing to be able to
process normal and error packets.
Another possibility is to not use mem charge for error queue, this is
what I implemented in this patch.
Note: this reverts commit 29030374
(net: fix sk_forward_alloc corruptions), since we dont need to lock
socket anymore.

This patch is meant to improve the performance of SLUB by moving the local
kmem_cache_node lock into it's own cacheline separate from kmem_cache.
This is accomplished by simply removing the local_node when NUMA is enabled.
On my system with 2 nodes I saw around a 5% performance increase w/
hackbench times dropping from 6.2 seconds to 5.9 seconds on average. I
suspect the performance gain would increase as the number of nodes
increases, but I do not have the data to currently back that up.

Allow userspace filesystem implementation to use splice() to write to
the fuse device. The semantics of using splice() are:
1) buffer the message header and data in a temporary pipe
2) with a *single* splice() call move the message from the temporary pipe
to the fuse device
The READ reply message has the most interesting use for this, since
now the data from an arbitrary file descriptor (which could be a
regular file, a block device or a socket) can be tranferred into the
fuse device without having to go through a userspace buffer. It will
also allow zero copy moving of pages.
One caveat is that the protocol on the fuse device requires the length
of the whole message to be written into the header. But the length of
the data transferred into the temporary pipe may not be known in
advance. The current library implementation works around this by
using vmplice to write the header and modifying the header after
splicing the data into the pipe (error handling omitted):

This works since vmsplice only saves a pointer to the data, it does
not copy the data itself.
Since pipes are currently limited to 16 pages and messages need to be
spliced atomically, the length of the data is limited to 15 pages (or
60kB for 4k pages).

Add a new driver to support the AB8500 Power Management chip, replacing
the current AB4500. The new driver replaces the old one, instead of an
incremental modification, because this is a substantial overhaul
including:
- Split of the driver into -core and -spi portions, to allow another
interface layer to be added
- Addition of interrupt support
- Switch to MFD core API for handling subdevices
- Simplification of the APIs to remove a redundant block parameter
- Rename of the APIs and macros from ab4500_* to ab8500_*
- Rename of the files from ab4500* to ab8500*
- Change of the driver name from ab4500 to ab8500

The interface for the AB3100 is changed to make way for the
ABX500 family of chips: AB3550, AB5500 and future ST-Ericsson
Analog Baseband chips. The register access functions are moved
out to a separate struct abx500_ops. In this way the interface
is moved from the implementation and the sub functionality drivers
can keep their interface intact when chip infrastructure and
communication mechanisms changes. We also define the AB3550
device IDs and the AB3550 platform data struct and convert
the catenated 32bit event to an array of 3 x 8bits.

The charger interrupts on the WM831x are unconditionally a wake source
for the system. If the power driver is not able to monitor them (for
example, due to the IRQ line not having been wired up on the system)
then any charger interrupt will prevent the system suspending for any
meaningful amount of time since nothing will ack them.
Avoid this issue by manually acknowledging these interrupts when we
suspend the WM831x core device if they are masked. If software is
actually using the interrupts then they will be unmasked and this
change will have no effect.

Add mfd structure which refrences sub-driver initialization data. For example,
for a giving hardware implementation, the voltage regulator sub-driver
initialization data provides the mapping betten a voltage regulator and what
the output voltage is being used for.

This patch adds a new MFD driver for the RDC321x southbridge. This southbridge
is always present in the RDC321x System-on-a-Chip and provides access to some
GPIOs as well as a watchdog. Access to these two functions is done using the
southbridge PCI device configuration space.

Generic per-cpu counter has some memory overhead but it is negligible for
modern systems and embedded systems compile without quota support. And code
reuse is a good thing. This patch should fix complain from preemptive kernels
which was introduced by dde9588853b1bde.

Currently the VFS calls into the quotactl interface for unmounting
filesystems. This means filesystems with their own quota handling
can't easily distinguish between user-space originating quotaoff
and an unount. Instead move the responsibily of the unmount handling
into the filesystem to be consistent with all other dquot handling.
Note that we do call dquot_disable a lot later now, e.g. after
a sync_filesystem. But this is fine as the quota code does all its
writes via blockdev's mapping and that is synced even later.

caused cross-architecture build problems for all the wrong reasons.
IA64 already added its own version of __node_random(), but the fact is,
there is nothing architectural about the function, and the original
commit was just badly done. Revert it, since no fix is forthcoming.

UAC2 devices have their information about pitch control stored in a
different field. Parse it, and emulate the bits for a v1 device.
A new struct uac2_iso_endpoint_descriptor is added.

cpuidle_register_driver() sets cpuidle_curr_driver
cpuidle_unregister_driver() clears cpuidle_curr_driver
We should't expose cpuidle_curr_driver to
potential modification except via these interfaces.
So make it static and create cpuidle_get_driver() to observe it.

These were used before cpuidle by the native ACPI idle driver,
which tracked promotion and demotion between states.
The code was referenced by CONFIG_ACPI_PROCFS
for /proc/acpi/processor/*/power,
but as we no longer do promotion/demotion, that
reference has been a NOP since the transition.

The ACPI spec includes a provision for hardware to provide EDID via the
ACPI video extension. In the KMS world it's necessary for a way to obtain
this from within the kernel. Add a function that either returns the EDID
for the provided ACPI display ID or the first display of the provided type.
Also add support for ensuring that devices with legacy IDs are supported.

The ACPI spec tells us that the firmware will reenable SCI_EN on resume.
Reality disagrees in some cases. The ACPI spec tells us that the only way
to set SCI_EN is via an SMM call.
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13745 shows us that doing so
may break machines. Tracing the ACPI calls made by Windows shows that it
unconditionally sets SCI_EN on resume with a direct register write, and
therefore the overwhelming probability is that everything is fine with
this behaviour.

The acpi_pci_root structure contains all the individual items (acpi_device,
domain, bus number) we pass to pci_acpi_scan_root(), so just pass the
single acpi_pci_root pointer directly.
This will make it easier to add _CBA support later. For _CBA, we need the
entire downstream bus range, not just the base bus number. We have that in
the acpi_pci_root structure, so passing the pointer makes it available to
the arch-specific code.

Previously, we only saved the root bus number, i.e., the beginning of the
downstream bus range. We now support IORESOURCE_BUS resources, so this
patch uses that to keep track of both the beginning and the end of the
downstream bus range.
It's important to know both the beginning and the end for supporting _CBA
(see PCI Firmware spec, rev 3.0, sec 4.1.3) and so we know the limits for
any possible PCI bus renumbering (we can't renumber downstream buses to be
outside the bus number range claimed by the host bridge).
It's clear from the spec that the bus range is supposed to be in _CRS, but
if we don't find it there, we'll assume [_BBN - 0xFF] or [0 - 0xFF].
