* V4L/DVB (9209): v4l2: add comment to the v4l2-i2c-drv headers.Hans Verkuil2008-10-17
| | | | | | | | | | Looking at these headers as they appear in the kernel makes you wonder why it is done that way. Refer to the v4l-dvb repository where the full unstripped header can be found to understand the reasoning behind this. * v4l-dvb: remove legacy checks to allow support for kernels < 2.6.10Hans Verkuil2008-07-20
| | | | | | | | Also remove some blank lines that were used to split compat code at -devel tree. Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil@xs4all.nl> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>
* i2c: Convert some more new-style drivers to use module aliasingJean Delvare2008-05-11
| | | | | | | | Update 3 more new-style i2c drivers to use standard module aliasing instead of the old driver_name/type driver matching scheme. These video drivers aren't used yet so converting them is trivial. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org>
* i2c: Add support for device alias namesJean Delvare2008-04-29
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Based on earlier work by Jon Smirl and Jochen Friedrich. This patch allows new-style i2c chip drivers to have alias names using the official kernel aliasing system and MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE(). At this point, the old i2c driver binding scheme (driver_name/type) is still supported. * i2c: Constify client address dataMark M. Hoffman2008-01-27
| | | | | | | | This patch allows much of the I2C client address data to move from initdata into text. Signed-off-by: Mark M. Hoffman <mhoffman@lightlink.com> Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org>
* V4L/DVB (6466): v4l2-i2c-drv: first call remove, then detach clientHans Verkuil2008-01-25
| | | | | | | | The remove driver function expects that the client is still attached to the driver, so do the detach after calling remove(). Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil@xs4all.nl> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>
* V4L/DVB (6460): v4l2-i2c-drv: add legacy_probe function pointerHans Verkuil2008-01-25
| | | | | | | | Some devices do complicated tests whether the device can be probed or not. Add a legacy_probe function pointer to support that. Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil@xs4all.nl> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>
* V4L/DVB (6451): v4l2: add support for bus-based I2C driversHans Verkuil2008-01-25
Two new headers were added: one for I2C drivers that are only used by V4L2 drivers converted to the new bus-based I2C API, and one that can be used by both converted and unconverted drivers (at the expense of some additional overhead). To support the legacy I2C API a helper function was added to v4l2-common.c. These headers take care of all the 'boilerplate' code that all V4L2 I2C drivers have in common and will automatically support the bus-based I2C API introduced in kernel 2.6.22.
