To work properly it is using the LPSS root clock as a functional clock. That's why we have to register the clock device accordingly to the ACPI ID of the DMA controller. Remarkably, this adds support for three new SoCs: r8a73a4, r8a73a4 and r8a7778. The bulk of the code added for these is for pinctrl (using the new subsystem) and for clocks (not yet using the common clock subsystem). The latter will have to get converted in one of the upcoming releases, but shmobile is not ready for that yet. The series also contains Renesas shmobile board changes, adding one board file for each of the three new SoCs. These boards are using a mix of classic and device-tree based probing, as there is still a lot of infrastructure in shmobile that has not been converted to DT yet. This driver is designed to be reusable between multiple SoCs that share the same basic building block, but so far it has only been used on R-Car H1 (r8a7779). Each driver instance handles 32 GPIOs with individually maskable IRQs. The driver operates on a single I/O memory range and the 32 GPIOs are hooked up a single interrupt. In the case of R-Car H1 either external IRQ pins or GPIOs with interrupts can be used for on-board interupts. For external IRQs 4 pins are supported, and in the case of GPIO there are 202 GPIOS as 202 interrupts hooked up via 6 driver instances and to the GIC and the Cortex-A9 Quad. At this point this driver is interfacing as a regular platform device driver. In the future DT support will be submitted as an incremental feature patch. The clock configuration can be done by the driver itself. (a) Concept The default value is set by each driver with clock selection. The internal clock selection bit is updated in case that the external clock is not detected or clock rate is not 32KHz. (b) Change on LP55xx platform data The clock configuration is done automatically, so no need to define 'update_config' in the platform side. Correlated information are removed in the documentations and header. (c) Definitions moved from header to driver files CONFIG register values are moved each driver, LP5521 and LP5562. LEDs can be controlled directly via the led class control interface. LP55xx common driver LP5562 is one of LP55xx family device, so LP55xx common code are used. On the other hand, chip specific configuration is defined in the structure 'lp55xx_device_config' LED pattern data LP5562 has also internal program memory which is used for running various LED patterns. LP5562 driver supports the firmware interface and the predefined pattern data as well. LP5562 device attributes: 'led_pattern' and 'engine_mux' A 'led_pattern' is an index code which runs the predefined pattern data. And 'engine_mux' is updated with the firmware interface is activated. Detailed description has been updated in the documentation files, 'leds-lp55xx.txt' and 'leds-lp5562.txt'. Changes on the header file LP5562 configurable definitions are added. There are both new drivers as well as existing drivers that are getting converted from platform-specific code into standalone drivers using the appropriate subsystem specific interfaces. In particular, we can now have pinctrl, clk, clksource and irqchip drivers in one file per driver, without the need to call into platform specific interface, or to get called from platform specific code, as long as all information about the hardware is provided through a device tree. Most of the drivers we touch this time are for clocksource. Since now most of them are part of drivers/clocksource, I expect that we won't have to touch these again from arm-soc and can let the clocksource maintainers take care of these in the future. Another larger part of this series is specific to the exynos platform, which is seeing some significant effort in upstreaming and modernization of its device drivers this time around, which unfortunately is also the cause for the churn and a lot of the merge conflicts. This driver implements the glue code needed to configure IRQ trigger and also handle mask/unmask and demux of external IRQ pins hooked up from the IRQC to the GIC. Tested on r8a73a4 but is designed to work with a wide range of SoCs. The driver requires one GIC SPI per external IRQ pin to operate. Each driver instance will handle up to 32 external IRQ pins. The SoCs using this driver are currently mainly used together with regular platform devices so this driver allows configuration via platform data to support things like static interrupt base address. DT support will be added incrementally in the not so distant future. On older SoCs the INTC is used as a general purpose interrupt controller both for external IRQ pins and on-chip devices. On more recent ARM based SoCs with Cortex-A9 the main interrupt controller is the GIC, but IRQ trigger setup still need to happen in the INTC hardware block. This driver implements the glue code needed to configure IRQ trigger and also handle mask/unmask and demux of external IRQ pins hooked up from the INTC to the GIC. Tested on sh73a0 and r8a7779. After this series in in arm-soc, what is left comes down to * The ASoC conversion to dmaengine won't make it unless someone who knows that code better steps up to do it right away. This means that we won't have audio in a 3.10 multiplatform kernel on Exynos, but it will still work for users that don't enable multiplatform. * The irqchip (combiner), clk and clksource patches are all based on top of other changesets we pulled in from your trees, so I would not make them part of the next/multiplatform branch. We can apply them on top of the next/drivers branch once they are tested successfully. * A trivial patch is needed in the end to actually make CONFIG_ARCH_EXYNOS visible in multiplatform configurations. The code moved in this patch concerns a group of functions used for decoupling and recoupling the IRQs from the GIC. During sleep and idle the Ux500 system will transfer all IRQ handling to the PRCMU using these functions. Basically we are left with the two alternatives of code placement as: - arch/arm/mach-ux500/pm.c - this because the code is closely related to the GIC, and takes ownership of some of the registers from the PRCMU related to this PM functionality. - drivers/mfd/db8500-prcmu-pm.c - because the code is affecting stuff in the PRCMU register range. But then this code needs to remap and handle GIC registers. This patch implementation is taking the first approach. Currently the cpuidle driver is the only piece of code using this set of functions, but it will later also be used by the suspend/resume code which is currently under review. The header file is moved to: <linux/platform_data/arm-ux500-pm.h> The function prototypes need to be placed in a globally visible header since the CPUidle code is planned to move out to drivers/cpuidle. It is better to handle those features in common code than to bother device drivers with doing that (I/O functionality-wise the LPSS devices are generally compatible with other devices that don't have those special registers and may be handled by the same drivers). The clock registers of the LPSS devices are now taken care of by the special clk-x86-lpss driver, but the MMIO mappings used for accessing those registers can also be used for accessing the LTR registers on those devices (LTR support for the Lynxpoint LPSS is going to be added by a subsequent patch). Thus it is convenient to add a special ACPI scan handler for the Lynxpoint LPSS devices that will create the MMIO mappings for accessing the clock (and LTR in the future) registers and will register the LPSS devices' clocks, so the clk-x86-lpss driver will only need to take care of the main Lynxpoint LPSS clock. Introduce a special ACPI scan handler for Intel Lynxpoint LPSS devices as described above. This also reduces overhead related to browsing the ACPI namespace in search of the LPSS devices before the registration of their clocks, removes some LPSS-specific (and somewhat ugly) code from acpi_platform.c and shrinks the overall code size slightly. This version of the patch leaves the old code in place, behind an #ifdef. This can be removed in the future, after the s3c64xx platform start supporting the regular dmaengine interface. An earlier version of this patch was tested successfully on exynos5250 by Padma Venkat.
