* sh64: Fixup sh-sci build.Paul Mundt2007-05-13
| | | | | | | sh-sci needs asm/sci.h, borrow this from sh so we can build again. Signed-off-by: Paul Mundt <lethal@linux-sh.org>
* sh64: ppoll/pselect6() and restartable syscalls.Paul Mundt2007-05-13
| | | | | | | | This patch was hanging around for some time while we were waiting for the compiler situation to improve.. now that all is well again, finally merge it. Signed-off-by: Paul Mundt <lethal@linux-sh.org>

* sh64: Fixups for the irq_regs changes.Paul Mundt2007-05-13
| | | | | | | | A few interrupt handlers were never updated, fix them up. We were missing the irq_regs conversion also, so do that at the same time. Signed-off-by: Paul Mundt <lethal@linux-sh.org>
* sh64: Wire up many new syscalls.Paul Mundt2007-05-13
| | | | | | | | This has suffered a bit of bitrot, so we're a bit behind on the syscalls. There were a few that were wrapped incorrectly as well, caught by the syscall checker. Fix them all up. Signed-off-by: Paul Mundt <lethal@linux-sh.org>
* Consolidate asm/poll.hStephen Rothwell2007-05-11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | These files are almost all the same. This patch could be made even simpler if we don't mind POLLREMOVE turning up in a few architectures that didn't have it previously (which should be OK as POLLREMOVE is not used anywhere in the current tree). * Clean up mostly unused IOSPACE macrosDavid Gibson2007-05-08
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Most architectures defined three macros, MK_IOSPACE_PFN(), GET_IOSPACE() and GET_PFN() in pgtable.h. However, the only callers of any of these macros are in Sparc specific code, either in arch/sparc, arch/sparc64 or drivers/sbus. This patch removes the redundant macros from all architectures except sparc and sparc64. * move die notifier handling to common codeChristoph Hellwig2007-05-08
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch moves the die notifier handling to common code. Previous various architectures had exactly the same code for it. Note that the new code is compiled unconditionally, this should be understood as an appel to the other architecture maintainer to implement support for it aswell (aka sprinkling a notify_die or two in the proper place) arm had a notifiy_die that did something totally different, I renamed it to arm_notify_die as part of the patch and made it static to the file it's declared and used at. avr32 used to pass slightly less information through this interface and I brought it into line with the other architectures. | * [PATCH] x86: PARAVIRT: add hooks to intercept mm creation and destructionJeremy Fitzhardinge2007-05-02
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add hooks to allow a paravirt implementation to track the lifetime of an mm. Paravirtualization requires three hooks, but only two are needed in common code. They are: arch_dup_mmap, which is called when a new mmap is created at fork arch_exit_mmap, which is called when the last process reference to an mm is dropped, which typically happens on exit and exec. The third hook is activate_mm, which is called from the arch-specific activate_mm() macro/function, and so doesn't need stub versions for other architectures. It's called when an mm is first used. * [NET]: Introduce SIOCGSTAMPNS ioctl to get timestamps with nanosec resolutionEric Dumazet2007-04-26

* [PATCH] consolidate line discipline number definitionsTilman Schmidt2007-02-11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The line discipline numbers N_* are currently defined for each architecture individually, but (except for a seeming mistake) identically, in asm/termios.h. There is no obvious reason why these numbers should be architecture specific, nor any apparent relationship with the termios structure. The total number of these, NR_LDISCS, is defined in linux/tty.h anyway. So I propose the following patch which moves the definitions of the individual line disciplines to linux/tty.h too. Three of these numbers (N_MASC, N_PROFIBUS_FDL, and N_SMSBLOCK) are unused in the current kernel, but the patch still keeps the complete set in case there are plans to use them yet. * [PATCH] Optimize D-cache alias handling on forkRalf Baechle2006-12-13
| | | | | | | | | | | Virtually index, physically tagged cache architectures can get away without cache flushing when forking. This patch adds a new cache flushing function flush_cache_dup_mm(struct mm_struct *) which for the moment I've implemented to do the same thing on all architectures except on MIPS where it's a no-op. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Pass struct dev pointer to dma_cache_sync() dma_cache_sync() is ill-designed in that it does not have a struct device pointer argument which makes proper support for systems that consist of a mix of coherent and non-coherent DMA devices hard. * [PATCH] Standardize pxx_page macrosDave McCracken2006-09-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | One of the changes necessary for shared page tables is to standardize the pxx_page macros. pte_page and pmd_page have always returned the struct page associated with their entry, while pte_page_kernel and pmd_page_kernel have returned the kernel virtual address. pud_page and pgd_page, on the other hand, return the kernel virtual address. Shared page tables needs pud_page and pgd_page to return the actual page structures. There are very few actual users of these functions, so it is simple to standardize their usage. Since this is basic cleanup, I am submitting these changes as a standalone patch. Per Hugh Dickins' comments about it, I am also changing the pxx_page_kernel macros to pxx_page_vaddr to clarify their meaning. * [PATCH] remove set_wmb - arch removalSteven Rostedt2006-07-15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | set_wmb should not be used in the kernel because it just confuses the code more and has no benefit. Since it is not currently used in the kernel this patch removes it so that new code does not include it. All archs define set_wmb(var, value) to do { var = value; wmb(); } while(0) except ia64 and sparc which use a mb() instead. But this is still moot since it is not used anyway. * [PATCH] unify PFN_* macrosDave Hansen2006-03-27
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Just about every architecture defines some macros to do operations on pfns. They're all virtually identical. This patch consolidates all of them. One minor glitch is that at least i386 uses them in a very skeletal header file. To keep away from #include dependency hell, I stuck the new definitions in a new, isolated header. Of all of the implementations, sh64 is the only one that varied by a bit. It used some masks to ensure that any sign-extension got ripped away before the arithmetic is done. This has been posted to that sh64 maintainers and the development list. Compiles on x86, x86_64, ia64 and ppc64. * [PATCH] bitops: use non atomic operations for minix_*_bit() and ext2_*_bit()Akinobu Mita2006-03-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Bitmap functions for the minix filesystem and the ext2 filesystem except ext2_set_bit_atomic() and ext2_clear_bit_atomic() do not require the atomic guarantees. But these are defined by using atomic bit operations on several architectures. (cris, frv, h8300, ia64, m32r, m68k, m68knommu, mips, s390, sh, sh64, sparc, sparc64, v850, and xtensa) This patch switches to non atomic bit operation. * [PATCH] POLLRDHUP/EPOLLRDHUP handling for half-closed devices notificationsDavide Libenzi2006-03-25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Implement the half-closed devices notifiation, by adding a new POLLRDHUP (and its alias EPOLLRDHUP) bit to the existing poll/select sets. Since the existing POLLHUP handling, that does not report correctly half-closed devices, was feared to be changed, this implementation leaves the current POLLHUP reporting unchanged and simply add a new bit that is set in the few places where it makes sense. The same thing was discussed and conceptually agreed quite some time ago: http://lkml.org/lkml/2003/7/12/116 Since this new event bit is added to the existing Linux poll infrastruture, even the existing poll/select system calls will be able to use it. As far as the existing POLLHUP handling, the patch leaves it as is. The pollrdhup-2.6.16.rc5-0.10.diff defines the POLLRDHUP for all the existing archs and sets the bit in the six relevant files. The other attached diff is the simple change required to sys/epoll.h to add the EPOLLRDHUP definition. There is "a stupid program" to test POLLRDHUP delivery here: http://www.xmailserver.org/pollrdhup-test.c It tests poll(2), but since the delivery is same epoll(2) will work equally.
