* Merge git://git.infradead.org/hdrcleanup-2.6Linus Torvalds2006-06-20
|\ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * git://git.infradead.org/hdrcleanup-2.6: (63 commits) [S390] __FD_foo definitions. Switch to __s32 types in joystick.h instead of C99 types for consistency. Add <sys/types.h> to headers included for userspace in <linux/input.h> Move inclusion of <linux/compat.h> out of user scope in asm-x86_64/mtrr.h Remove struct fddi_statistics from user view in <linux/if_fddi.h> Move user-visible parts of drivers/s390/crypto/z90crypt.h to include/asm-s390 Revert include/media changes: Mauro says those ioctls are only used in-kernel(!) Include <linux/types.h> and use __uXX types in <linux/cramfs_fs.h> Use __uXX types in <linux/i2o_dev.h>, include <linux/ioctl.h> too Remove private struct dx_hash_info from public view in <linux/ext3_fs.h> Include <linux/types.h> and use __uXX types in <linux/affs_hardblocks.h> Use __uXX types in <linux/divert.h> for struct divert_blk et al. Use __u32 for elf_addr_t in <asm-powerpc/elf.h>, not u32. It's user-visible. Remove PPP_FCS from user view in <linux/ppp_defs.h>, remove __P mess entirely Use __uXX types in user-visible structures in <linux/nbd.h> Don't use 'u32' in user-visible struct ip_conntrack_old_tuple. Use __uXX types for S390 DASD volume label definitions which are user-visible S390 BIODASDREADCMB ioctl should use __u64 not u64 type. Remove unneeded inclusion of <linux/time.h> from <linux/ufs_fs.h> Fix private integer types used in V4L2 ioctls. ... Manually resolve conflict in include/linux/mtd/physmap.h

* | [MIPS] Fix declaration of smp_prepare_cpus() platform hook.Ralf Baechle2006-06-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | A while ago prom_prepare_cpus was replaced by plat_prepare_cpus but the declaration has stayed unchanged. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org>

* [MIPS] SMP: Fix initialization order bug.Ralf Baechle2006-02-27
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | A recent change requires cpu_possible_map to be initialized before smp_sched_init() but most MIPS platforms were initializing their processors in the prom_prepare_cpus callback of smp_prepare_cpus. The simple fix of calling prom_prepare_cpus from one of the earlier SMP initialization hooks doesn't work well either since IPIs may require init_IRQ() to have completed, so bit the bullet and split prom_prepare_cpus into two initialization functions, plat_smp_setup which is called early from setup_arch and plat_prepare_cpus called where prom_prepare_cpus used to be called. * [PATCH] smp_processor_id() cleanupIngo Molnar2005-06-21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch implements a number of smp_processor_id() cleanup ideas that Arjan van de Ven and I came up with. The previous __smp_processor_id/_smp_processor_id/smp_processor_id API spaghetti was hard to follow both on the implementational and on the usage side. Some of the complexity arose from picking wrong names, some of the complexity comes from the fact that not all architectures defined __smp_processor_id. In the new code, there are two externally visible symbols: - smp_processor_id(): debug variant. - raw_smp_processor_id(): nondebug variant. Replaces all existing uses of _smp_processor_id() and __smp_processor_id(). Defined by every SMP architecture in include/asm-*/smp.h. There is one new internal symbol, dependent on DEBUG_PREEMPT: - debug_smp_processor_id(): internal debug variant, mapped to smp_processor_id(). Also, i moved debug_smp_processor_id() from lib/kernel_lock.c into a new lib/smp_processor_id.c file. All related comments got updated and/or clarified. I have build/boot tested the following 8 .config combinations on x86: {SMP,UP} x {PREEMPT,!PREEMPT} x {DEBUG_PREEMPT,!DEBUG_PREEMPT} I have also build/boot tested x64 on UP/PREEMPT/DEBUG_PREEMPT. (Other architectures are untested, but should work just fine.) Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
