* m32r: move include/asm-m32r headers to arch/m32r/include/asmHirokazu Takata2009-04-16

* sched: rename SCHED_NO_NO_OMIT_FRAME_POINTER => SCHED_OMIT_FRAME_POINTERIngo Molnar2008-11-11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Impact: cleanup, change .config option name We had this ugly config name for a long time for hysteric raisons. Rename it to a saner name. We still cannot get rid of it completely, until /proc/<pid>/stack usage replaces WCHAN usage for good. We'll be able to do that in the v2.6.29/v2.6.30 timeframe. * Fix m32r __xchgMathieu Desnoyers2008-02-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | the #endif /* CONFIG_SMP */ should cover the default condition, or it may cause bad parameter to be silently missed. To make it work correctly, we have to remove the ifdef CONFIG SMP surrounding __xchg_called_with_bad_pointer declaration. Thanks to Adrian Bunk for detecting this. * New cmpxchg_local (optimized for UP case) for m32rMathieu Desnoyers2008-02-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add __xchg_local, xchg_local (define), __cmpxchg_local_u32, __cmpxchg_local, cmpxchg_local(macro). cmpxchg_local and cmpxchg64_local will use the architecture specific __cmpxchg_local_u32 for 32 bits arguments, and use the generic __cmpxchg_local_generic for 8, 16 and 64 bits arguments. * m32r: fix switch_to macro to push/pop frame pointer if neededHirokazu Takata2007-05-11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch fixes a rarely-happened but severe scheduling problem of the recent m32r kernel of 2.6.17-rc3 or later. In the following previous m32r patch, the switch_to macro was modified not to do unnecessary push/pop operations for tuning. > [PATCH] m32r: update switch_to macro for tuning > 4127272c38619c56f0c1aa01d01c7bd757db70a1 In this modification, only 'lr' and 'sp' registers are push/pop'ed, assuming that the m32r kernel is always compiled with -fomit-frame-pointer option. However, in 2.6 kernel, kernel/sched.c is irregularly compiled with -fno-omit-frame-pointer if CONFIG_SCHED_NO_NO_OMIT_FRAME_POINTER is not defined. -- kernel/Makefile -- : ifneq ($(CONFIG_SCHED_NO_NO_OMIT_FRAME_POINTER),y) # According to Alan Modra <alan@linuxcare.com.au>, the -fno-omit-frame-pointer is # needed for x86 only. Why this used to be enabled for all architectures is beyond # me. I suspect most platforms don't need this, but until we know that for sure # I turn this off for IA-64 only. Andreas Schwab says it's also needed on m68k # to get a correct value for the wait-channel (WCHAN in ps). --davidm CFLAGS_sched.o := $(PROFILING) -fno-omit-frame-pointer endif : --- Therefore, for the recent m32r kernel, we have to push/pop 'fp' (frame pointer) if CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER is defined or CONFIG_SCHED_NO_NO_OMIT_FRAME_POINTER is not defined. * [PATCH] remove set_wmb - arch removalSteven Rostedt2006-07-15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | set_wmb should not be used in the kernel because it just confuses the code more and has no benefit. Since it is not currently used in the kernel this patch removes it so that new code does not include it. All archs define set_wmb(var, value) to do { var = value; wmb(); } while(0) except ia64 and sparc which use a mb() instead. But this is still moot since it is not used anyway. Hasn't been tested on any archs but x86 and x86_64 (and only compiled tested) Signed-off-by: Steven Rostedt <rostedt@goodmis.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] sched: cleanup, remove task_t, convert to struct task_structIngo Molnar2006-07-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | cleanup: remove task_t and convert all the uses to struct task_struct. I introduced it for the scheduler anno and it was a mistake. * [PATCH] m32r: __cmpxchg_u32 fixHirokazu Takata2006-02-20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch fixes a bug of include/asm-m32r/system.h:__cmpxchg_u32(). static __inline__ unsigned long __cmpxchg_u32(volatile unsigned int *p, unsigned int old, unsigned int new); In __cmpxchg_u32(), the "old" value must not be changed to the previous "*p" value. But the former code modifies the previous "*p" value. A deadlock at _atomic_dec_and_lock sometimes happened due to this bug. * [PATCH] m32r: Support M32104UT target platformHirokazu Takata2006-01-06
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch is for supporting a new target platform, Renesas M32104UT evaluation board. The M32104UT is an eval board based on an uT-Engine specification. This board has an MMU-less M32R family processor, M32104. http://www-wa0.personal-media.co.jp/pmc/archive/te/te_m32104_e.pdf This board is one of the most popular M32R platform, so we have ported Linux/M32R to it. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
