* m32r: fix pte_to_pgoff(), pgoff_to_pte() and __swp_type() macrosHirokazu Takata2007-05-11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch is required to handle file-mapped or swapped-out pages correctly. - Fix pte_to_pgoff() and pgoff_to_pte() macros not to include _PAGE_PROTNONE bit of PTE. Mask value for { ACCESSED, N, (R, W, X), L, G } is not 0xef but 0x7f. - Fix __swp_type() macro for MAX_SWAPFILES_SHIFT(=5), which is defined in include/linux/swap.h. * M32R TLB format [0] [1:19] [20:23] [24:31] +-----------------------+----+-------------+ | VPN |0000| ASID | +-----------------------+----+-------------+ +-+---------------------+----+-+---+-+-+-+-+ |0 PPN |0000|N|AC |L|G|V| | +-+---------------------+----+-+---+-+-+-+-+ || RWX | | * software bits in PTE || | +-- _PAGE_FILE | _PAGE_DIRTY || +---- _PAGE_PRESENT |+---------------- _PAGE_ACCESSED +----------------- _PAGE_PROTNONE Signed-off-by: Hitoshi Yamamoto <hitoshiy@linux-m32r.org> Signed-off-by: Hirokazu Takata <takata@linux-m32r.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

* [PATCH] paravirt: remove set pte atomicZachary Amsden2006-10-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now that ptep_establish has a definition in PAE i386 3-level paging code, the only paging model which is insane enough to have multi-word hardware PTEs which are not efficient to set atomically, we can remove the ghost of set_pte_atomic from other architectures which falesly duplicated it, and remove all knowledge of it from the generic pgtable code. set_pte_atomic is now a private pte operator which is specific to i386 Signed-off-by: Zachary Amsden <zach@vmware.com> Cc: Rusty Russell <rusty@rustcorp.com.au> Cc: Jeremy Fitzhardinge <jeremy@xensource.com> Cc: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] Standardize pxx_page macrosDave McCracken2006-09-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | One of the changes necessary for shared page tables is to standardize the pxx_page macros. pte_page and pmd_page have always returned the struct page associated with their entry, while pte_page_kernel and pmd_page_kernel have returned the kernel virtual address. pud_page and pgd_page, on the other hand, return the kernel virtual address. Shared page tables needs pud_page and pgd_page to return the actual page structures. There are very few actual users of these functions, so it is simple to standardize their usage. Since this is basic cleanup, I am submitting these changes as a standalone patch. Per Hugh Dickins' comments about it, I am also changing the pxx_page_kernel macros to pxx_page_vaddr to clarify their meaning. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
