* i386/x86_64: move headers to include/asm-x86Thomas Gleixner2007-10-11
| | | | | | | | Move the headers to include/asm-x86 and fixup the header install make rules Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* [PATCH] headers_check: move inclusion of <linux/linkage.h> in ↵David Woodhouse2006-09-13
| | | | | | | | | | | <asm-i386/signal.h> Because <linux/linkage.h> doesn't exist in userspace, it should be only included from within #ifdef __KERNEL__. Move the corresponding #include Signed-off-by: David Woodhouse <dwmw2@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

* [PATCH] Handle TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK for i386David Howells2006-01-18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Handle TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK as added by David Woodhouse's patch entitled: [PATCH] 2/3 Add TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK support for arch/powerpc [PATCH] 3/3 Generic sys_rt_sigsuspend It does the following: (1) Declares TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK for i386. (2) Invokes it over to do_signal() when TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK is set. (3) Makes do_signal() support TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK, using the signal mask saved in current->saved_sigmask. (4) Discards sys_rt_sigsuspend() from the arch, using the generic one instead. (5) Makes sys_sigsuspend() save the signal mask and set TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK rather than attempting to fudge the return registers. (6) Makes sys_sigsuspend() return -ERESTARTNOHAND rather than looping intrinsically. (7) Makes setup_frame(), setup_rt_frame() and handle_signal() return 0 or -EFAULT rather than true/false to be consistent with the rest of the kernel. Due to the fact do_signal() is then only called from one place: (8) Makes do_signal() no longer have a return value is it was just being ignored; force_sig() takes care of this. (9) Discards the old sigmask argument to do_signal() as it's no longer necessary. (10) Makes do_signal() static. (11) Marks the second argument to do_notify_resume() as unused. The unused argument should remain in the middle as the arguments are passed in as registers, and the ordering is specific in entry.S Given the way do_signal() is now no longer called from sys_{,rt_}sigsuspend(), they no longer need access to the exception frame, and so can just take arguments normally. This patch depends on sys_rt_sigsuspend patch. * x86: Fix silly typo in recent <asm/signal.h> fixesLinus Torvalds2005-11-17
| | | | | | | The second __const_sigaddset() should have been a sigdelset.. Compile trouble noted by Greg K-H. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] x86: fix sigaddset() inline asm memory constraintConstantine Gavrilov2005-11-17
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Due to incomplete memory constraints, gcc would miscompile code with sigaddset on i386 if sig arg was const. A quote form Jakub to make the issue clear: "You need either __asm__("btsl %1,%0" : "+m"(*set) : "Ir"(_sig-1) : "cc"); or __asm__("btsl %1,%0" : "=m"(*set) : "Ir"(_sig-1), "m"(*set) : "cc"); because the btsl instruction doesn't just set the memory to some value, but needs to read its previous content as well. If you don't tell that fact to GCC, GCC is of course free to optimize as if the asm was just setting the value and not depended on the previous value." * [PATCH] asm/signal.h unificationAl Viro2005-05-04
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | New file - asm-generic/signal.h. Contains declarations of __sighandler_t, __sigrestore_t, SIG_DFL, SIG_IGN, SIG_ERR and default definitions of SIG_BLOCK, SIG_UNBLOCK and SIG_SETMASK. asm-*/signal.h switched to including it. The only exception is asm-parisc/signal.h that wants its own declaration of __sighandler_t; that one is left as-is. asm-ppc64/signal.h required one more thing - unlike everybody else it used __sigrestorer_t instead of usual __sigrestore_t. PPC64 switched to common spelling. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@parcelfarce.linux.theplanet.co.uk> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] move SA_xxx defines to linux/signal.hStas Sergeev2005-05-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The attached patch moves the IRQ-related SA_xxx flags (namely, SA_PROBE, SA_SAMPLE_RANDOM and SA_SHIRQ) from all the arch-specific headers to linux/signal.h. This looks like a left-over after the irq-handling code was consolidated. The code was moved to kernel/irq/*, but the flags are still left per-arch. Right now, adding a new IRQ flag to the arch-specific header, like this patch does: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/alsa/alsa-driver/utils/patches/pcsp-kernel-2.6.10-03.diff?rev=1.1 no longer works, it breaks the compilation for all other arches, unless you add that flag to all the other arch-specific headers too. So I think such a clean-up makes sense. Signed-off-by: Stas Sergeev <stsp@aknet.ru> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
