* Fix FRV cmpxchg_localMathieu Desnoyers2008-02-08
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fix the FRV cmpxchg_local by breaking the following header dependency loop : linux/kernel.h -> linux/bitops.h -> asm-frv/bitops.h -> asm-frv/atomic.h -> asm-frv/system.h -> asm-generic/cmpxchg_local.h -> typecheck() defined in linux/kernel.h and linux/kernel.h -> linux/bitops.h -> asm-frv/bitops.h -> asm-frv/atomic.h -> asm-generic/cmpxchg_local.h -> typecheck() defined in linux/kernel.h In order to fix this : - Move the atomic_test_and_ *_mask inlines from asm-frv/atomic.h (why are they there at all anyway ? They are not touching atomic_t variables!) to asm-frv/bitops.h. Also fix a build issue with cmpxchg : it does not cast to (unsigned long *) like other architectures, to deal with it in the cmpxchg_local macro. FRV builds fine with this patch. * move frv docs one level upAdrian Bunk2008-02-03
| | | | | | | | | | My first guess for "fujitsu" was it might be related to the fujitsu-laptop.c driver... Move the frv directory one level up since frv is the name of the architecture in the Linux kernel. Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@kernel.org>
* atomic.h: atomic_add_unless as inline. Remove system.h atomic.h circular ↵Mathieu Desnoyers2007-05-08
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | dependency atomic_add_unless as inline. Remove system.h atomic.h circular dependency. I agree (with Andi Kleen) this typeof is not needed and more error prone. All the original atomic.h code that uses cmpxchg (which includes the atomic_add_unless) uses defines instead of inline functions, probably to circumvent a circular dependency between system.h and atomic.h on powerpc (which my patch addresses). Therefore, it makes sense to use inline functions that will provide type checking. atomic_add_unless as inline. Remove system.h atomic.h circular dependency. Digging into the FRV architecture shows me that it is also affected by such a circular dependency. Here is the diff applying this against the rest of my atomic.h patches. It applies over the atomic.h standardization patches. * [PATCH] FRV: Miscellaneous fixesDavid Howells2006-02-14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Make various alterations and fixes to the FRV arch: (1) Resyncs the FRV system call collection with the i386 arch. (2) Discards __iounmap() as it's not used. (3) Fixes the use of the SWAP/SWAPI instruction to get the arguments the right way around in atomic.h, and also to get the asm constraints correct. (4) Moves copy_to/from_user_page() to asm/cacheflush.h to be consistent with other archs. * [PATCH] atomic_long_t & include/asm-generic/atomic.h V2Christoph Lameter2006-01-06
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Several counters already have the need to use 64 atomic variables on 64 bit platforms (see mm_counter_t in sched.h). We have to do ugly ifdefs to fall back to 32 bit atomic on 32 bit platforms. The VM statistics patch that I am working on will also make more extensive use of atomic64. This patch introduces a new type atomic_long_t by providing definitions in asm-generic/atomic.h that works similar to the c "long" type. Its 32 bits on 32 bit platforms and 64 bits on 64 bit platforms. Also cleans up the determination of the mm_counter_t in sched.h. * [PATCH] atomic: inc_not_zeroNick Piggin2005-11-13
| | | | | | | | | | | Introduce an atomic_inc_not_zero operation. Make this a special case of atomic_add_unless because lockless pagecache actually wants atomic_inc_not_negativeone due to its offset refcount. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
