* [NET]: Introducing socket mark socket option.Laszlo Attila Toth2008-01-31
| | | | | | | | | | | | A userspace program may wish to set the mark for each packets its send without using the netfilter MARK target. Changing the mark can be used for mark based routing without netfilter or for packet filtering. It requires CAP_NET_ADMIN capability. * [AVR32] NMI debuggingHaavard Skinnemoen2008-01-25
| | | | | | | | Change the NMI handler to use the die notifier chain to signal anyone who cares. Add a simple "nmi debugger" which hooks into this chain and that may dump registers, task state, etc. when it happens. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* [AVR32] Add support for AT32AP7001 and AT32AP7002Haavard Skinnemoen2008-01-25
| | | | | | | | | These are derivatives of the AT32AP7000 chip, which means that most of the code stays the same. Rename a few files, functions, definitions and config symbols to reflect that they apply to all AP700x chips, and exclude some platform devices from chips where they aren't present. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* [AVR32] Provide more CPU information in /proc/cpuinfo and dmesgHaavard Skinnemoen2008-01-25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add the following fields to /proc/cpuinfo: * chip type and revision (from the JTAG chip id) * cpu MHz (from clk_get_rate()) * features (from the CONFIG0 register) Also rename "cpu family" to "cpu arch" and "cpu type" to "cpu core" to remove some ambiguity. Show chip type and revision at bootup, and clarify that the other kinds of IDs that we're already printing are for the cpu core and architecture. Rename "AP7000" to "AP7" since that's the name of the core. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* [AVR32] Enable debugging only when neededHaavard Skinnemoen2008-01-25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Keep track of processes being debugged (including the kernel itself) and turn the OCD system on and off as appropriate. Since enabling debugging turns off some optimizations in the CPU core, this fixes the issue that enabling KProbes support or simply running a program under gdbserver will reduce system performance significantly until the next reboot. The CPU performance will still be reduced for all processes while a process is being debugged, but this is a lot better than reducing the performance forever. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* [AVR32] Fix copy_to_user_page() breakageHaavard Skinnemoen2007-12-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | The current implementation of copy_to_user_page() gives "vaddr" to the cache instruction when trying to sync the icache with the dcache. If vaddr does not exist in the TLB, the CPU will silently abort the operation, which may result in the caches staying out of sync. To fix this, pass the "dst" parameter to flush_icache_range() instead -- we know this is valid because we just wrote to it. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* [AVR32] Follow the rules when dealing with the OCD systemHaavard Skinnemoen2007-12-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The current debug trap handling code does a number of things that are illegal according to the AVR32 Architecture manual. Most importantly, it may try to schedule from Debug Mode, thus clearing the D bit, which can lead to "undefined behaviour". It seems like this works in most cases, but several people have observed somewhat unstable behaviour when debugging programs, including soft lockups. So there's definitely something which is not right with the existing code. The new code will never schedule from Debug mode, it will always exit Debug mode with a "retd" instruction, and if something not running in Debug mode needs to do something debug-related (like doing a single step), it will enter debug mode through a "breakpoint" instruction. The monitor code will then return directly to user space, bypassing its own saved registers if necessary (since we don't actually care about the trapped context, only the one that came before.) This adds three instructions to the common exception handling code, including one branch. It does not touch super-hot paths like the TLB miss handler. * [AVR32] Clean up OCD register usageHaavard Skinnemoen2007-12-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Generate a new set of OCD register definitions in asm/ocd.h and rename __mfdr() and __mtdr() to ocd_read() and ocd_write() respectively. The bitfield definitions are a lot more complete now, and they are entirely based on bit numbers, not masks. This is because OCD registers are frequently accessed from assembly code, where bit numbers are a lot more useful (can be fed directly to sbr, bfins, etc.) Bitfields that consist of more than one bit have two definitions: _START, which indicates the number of the first bit, and _SIZE, which indicates the number of bits. These directly correspond to the parameters taken by the bfextu, bfexts and bfins instructions. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>

* [AVR32] Fix invalid status register bit definitions in asm/ptrace.hHaavard Skinnemoen2007-12-07
| | | | | | | | | The 'H' bit is bit 29, while the 'R' bit doesn't exist. Luckily, we don't actually use any of the bits in question. Also update show_regs() to show the Debug Mask and Debug state bits. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
* [AVR32] Add TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK to the work masksHaavard Skinnemoen2007-12-07
| | | | | | | | | | | We really need to check TIF_RESTORE_SIGMASK before returning to userspace. The existing code does not necessarily do this. Define the work masks as a bitwise OR of the respective flags instead of a hardcoded hex value to make it easier to spot errors like this in the future. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Implement at32_add_device_cf() which will add a platform_device for the at32_cf driver (not merged yet). Separate out most of the at32_add_device_ide() code and use it to implement at32_add_device_cf() as well. This changes the API in the following ways: * The board code must initialize data->cs to the chipselect ID to use before calling any of these functions. * The board code must use GPIO_PIN_NONE to indicate unused CF pins. * | Change table chaining layoutJens Axboe2007-10-22
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Change the page member of the scatterlist structure to be an unsigned long, and encode more stuff in the lower bits: - Bits 0 and 1 zero: this is a normal sg entry. Next sg entry is located at sg + 1. - Bit 0 set: this is a chain entry, the next real entry is at ->page_link with the two low bits masked off. - Bit 1 set: this is the final entry in the sg entry. sg_next() will return NULL when passed such an entry. It's thus important that sg table users use the proper accessors to get and set the page member. Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <jens.axboe@oracle.com>

* Remove dma_cache_(wback|inv|wback_inv) functionsRalf Baechle2007-10-17
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | dma_cache_(wback|inv|wback_inv) were the earliest attempt on a generalized cache managment API for I/O purposes. Originally it was basically the raw MIPS low level cache API exported to the entire world. The API has suffered from a lack of documentation, was not very widely used unlike it's more modern brothers and can easily be replaced by dma_cache_sync. So remove it rsp. turn the surviving bits back into an arch private API, as discussed on linux-arch. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Remove the __STRICT_ANSI__ check from the __u64/__s64 declaration on 32bit targets. GCC can be made to warn about usage of long long types with ISO C90 (-ansi), but only with -pedantic. You can write this in a way that even then it doesn't cause warnings, namely by: #ifdef __GNUC__ __extension__ typedef __signed__ long long __s64; __extension__ typedef unsigned long long __u64; #endif The __extension__ keyword in front of this switches off any pedantic warnings for this expression. * x86: optimize page faults like all other achitectures and kill notifier cruftChristoph Hellwig2007-10-16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | x86(-64) are the last architectures still using the page fault notifier cruft for the kprobes page fault hook. This patch converts them to the proper direct calls, and removes the now unused pagefault notifier bits aswell as the cruft in kprobes.c that was related to this mess. I know Andi didn't really like this, but all other architecture maintainers agreed the direct calls are much better and besides the obvious cruft removal a common way of dealing with kprobes across architectures is important aswell. * [AVR32] Don't use __builtin_xchg()Haavard Skinnemoen2007-10-11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The implementation of __builtin_xchg() in at least some versions of avr32 gcc is buggy. Rather than find out exactly which versions that have this bug, let's just avoid the problem altogether by implementing xchg() in inline assembly. Also, in most architectures, xchg() seems to imply a memory barrier, while the existing avr32 implementation did not. This patch also fixes that discrepancy. | | | | | | | | | | | | I don't think the dma_sync_*_for_cpu ever did anything useful. We flush the relevant cache lines when mapping the buffer or when calling dma_sync_*_for_device(), and the CPU isn't allowed to touch the buffer after that. | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add empty definition of mmiowb() since some drivers need it. Uncached writes are strongly ordered on AVR32. They may be delayed if the dcache is busy doing a writeback, but AFAICT that's not what this macro is supposed to deal with, at least on UP systems. | | | | | | | | | | | | If we let unaligned word loads bypass the generic unaligned handling, gcc may combine it with a swap.b instruction and turn it into a ldwsp instruction, which does not work with unaligned addresses. Revert the optimization to prevent the RNDIS driver from crashing. Hopefully we'll figure something out later (it may be better to do the optimization in gcc.) * [AVR32] Split SM device into PM, RTC, WDT and EICHaavard Skinnemoen2007-07-18
| | | | | | | | | | | Split the SM platform device into separate platform devices for PM, RTC, WDT and EIC. This is more correct according to the documentation and allows us to simplify the code a little. Also turn the EIC driver into a real platform driver. * [AVR32] faster avr32 unaligned accessDavid Brownell2007-07-18
| | | | | | | | | | | Use a more conventional implementation for unaligned access, and include an AT32AP-specific optimization: the CPU will handle unaligned words. The result is always faster and smaller for 8, 16, and 32 bit values. For 64 bit quantities, it's presumably larger. * fbdev: detect primary display deviceAntonino A. Daplas2007-07-17
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Add function helper, fb_is_primary_device(). Given struct fb_info, it will return a nonzero value if the device is the primary display. Currently, only the i386 is supported where the function checks for the IORESOURCE_ROM_SHADOW flag.
