The current way how omapdss handles system suspend and resume is that
omapdss device (a platform device, which is not part of the device
hierarchy of the DSS HW devices, like DISPC and DSI, or panels.) uses
the suspend and resume callbacks from platform_driver to handle system
suspend. It does this by disabling all enabled panels on suspend, and
resuming the previously disabled panels on resume.
This presents a few problems.
One is that as omapdss device is not related to the panel devices or the
DSS HW devices, there's no ordering in the suspend process. This means
that suspend could be first ran for DSS HW devices and panels, and only
then for omapdss device. Currently this is not a problem, as DSS HW
devices and panels do not handle suspend.
Another, more pressing problem, is that when suspending or resuming, the
runtime PM functions return -EACCES as runtime PM is disabled during
system suspend. This causes the driver to print warnings, and operations
to fail as they think that they failed to bring up the HW.
This patch changes the omapdss suspend handling to use PM notifiers,
which are called before suspend and after resume. This way we have a
normally functioning system when we are suspending and resuming the
panels.
This patch, I believe, creates a problem that somebody could enable or
disable a panel between PM_SUSPEND_PREPARE and the system suspend, and
similarly the other way around in resume. I choose to ignore the problem
for now, as it sounds rather unlikely, and if it happens, it's not
fatal.
In the long run the system suspend handling of omapdss and panels should
be thought out properly. The current approach feels rather hacky.
Perhaps the panel drivers should handle system suspend, or the users of
omapdss (omapfb, omapdrm) should handle system suspend.
Note that after this patch we could probably revert
0eaf9f52e94f756147dbfe1faf1f77a02378dbf9 (OMAPDSS: use sync versions of
pm_runtime_put). But as I said, this patch may be temporary, so let's
leave the sync version still in place.

In preparation of OMAP moving to Common Clk Framework(CCF) change
clk_enable() and clk_disable() calls to clk_prepare_enable() and
clk_disable_unprepare() in omapdss. This can be safely done, as omapdss
never enables or disables clocks in atomic context.

We have two almost the same enums: omap_channel and
omap_dss_overlay_managers. omap_channel is used almost everywhere, and
omap_channel assigns explicit values to the enum values which are needed
for proper operation.
omap_dss_overlay_managers is only used in one place, so it's easy to
remove it, which is what this patch does.

This patch fixes the cleanup code of the bfin_adv7393_fb_probe
function.
1) The resources were not freed in the order that we allocated them
so we call dma_free_coherent() before it was allocated.
2) The labels weren't in the right place which also meant that we
freed resources that weren't allocated.
3) We should free gpio_free(P_IDENT(P_PPI0_FS3)) before returning.
4) Lets change the label names into something more meaningful.

used to handle NULL pointers when the picolcd code was written, but a

Omapdss driver changes for 3.5 merge window.
Lots of normal development commits, but perhaps most notable changes are:
* HDMI rework to properly decouple the HDMI audio part from the HDMI video part.
* Restructure omapdss core driver so that it's possible to implement device
tree support. This included changing how platform data is passed to the
drivers, changing display device registration and improving the panel driver's
ability to configure the underlying video output interface.
* Basic support for DSI packet interleaving

The THRESHOLDS register configures thresholds for two interrupts, but
these interrupts are not used in the DIU driver. An early version of the
driver may have used the "lines before vsync" interrupt, which requires
the LS_BF_VS of THRESHOLDS to be initialized.
Unfortunately, the initialization of this register does not do a
read-modify-write to set only LS_BF_VS. On the MPC8610, the value
written is correct. On other chips, like the P1022, the value overwrites
some reserved bits. This results in a performance drop on the P1022.
Since the default value is acceptable as-is on all SOCs, we should just
avoid touching this register.

With this optional callback the driver is notified when the first page
is entered into the pagelist and a new deferred_io call is scheduled.
A possible use-case for this is runtime-pm. In the first_io call
pm_runtime_get()
could be called, which starts an asynchronous runtime_resume of the
device. In the deferred_io callback a call to
pm_runtime_barrier()
makes the sure, the device is resumed by then and a
pm_runtime_put()
may put the device back to sleep.
Also, some SoCs may use the runtime-pm system to determine if they
are able to enter deeper idle states. Therefore it is necessary to
keep the use-count from the first written page until the conclusion
of the screen update, to prevent the system from going to sleep before
completing the pending update.
Two users of defio were using kmalloc to allocate the structure.
These allocations are changed to kzalloc, to prevent uninitialised
.first_io members in those drivers.

If there's some traffic on the LCD controller pads, the BootROM has trouble with
sampling the bootmode from these pads. The BootROM usually ends in a loop.

There were two problems in this code: failure of the setup function should
free locally allocated resources like other nearby failures, and the test
if (&info->cmap) can never be false. To generally clean things up, this
patch reorders the error handling code at the failed label and adds labels
so that the conditionals are not necessary.

commit 461cbe77d0a4f887c33a3a95ea68a7daf23b4302

video: msm: Fix section mismatch in mddi.c.
fixes a section mismatch between the board file and the driver's probe
function, however, it misses the additional mismatches between the
probe function and some routines it calls. Fix these up as well.

This patch adds analog and pll control setting. This control setting
is used for DP TX PHY block to set the values as below. It is beneficial
to improve analog characteristics.
- TX terminal registor is 50 Ohm.
- Reference clock of PHY is 24 MHz.
- Power source for TX digital logic is 1.0625 V.
- Power source for internal clock driver is 1.0625 V.
- PLL VCO range setting is 600 uA.
- Power down ring osc is turned off.
- AUX terminal resistor is 50 Ohm.
- AUX channel current is 8 mA and multiplied by 2.
- TX channel output amplitude is 400 mV.

This patch adds runtime_get/put to suspend/resume, which should be
necessary to prevent the problem to access the fimd register
without block power on.
