* fbdev: add Ultrasharp UXGA to broken monitor databaseAntonino A. Daplas2007-05-08
| | | | | | | | | | This particular monitor does not have a limits block and has only one set of monitor timings. Fix by adding a limits block to the EDID and extend the horizontal sync frequency range to 30 kHz and 75 Khz. * [PATCH] various fbdev files: mark structs and array read-onlyHelge Deller2006-12-08
| | | | | | | | | | - move some structs and arrays to the read-only (.rodata) section [akpm@osdl.org: build fix] Signed-off-by: Helge Deller <deller@gmx.de> Acked-by: James Simmons <jsimmons@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] vt: Remove VT-specific declarations and definitions from tty.hJon Smirl2006-07-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | MAX_NR_CONSOLES, fg_console, want_console and last_console are more of a function of the VT layer than the TTY one. Moving these to vt.h and vt_kern.h allows all of the framebuffer and VT console drivers to remove their dependency on tty.h. * [PATCH] fbdev: Firmware EDID fixesAntonino A. Daplas2006-06-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | - make firmware edid independent from framebuffer (No need to choose framebuffer just to disable this option - enable this option in X86_64 - check if VBE/DDC function is implemented before calling actual function Signed-off-by: Antonino Daplas <adaplas@pol.net> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] fbdev: More accurate sync range extrapolationAntonino A. Daplas2006-06-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The EDID block should specify the display's operating limits (vertical and horizontal sync ranges, and maximum dot clock). If not given by the EDID block, the ranges are extrapolated from the modelist. However, the computation used is only a rough approximation, and the resulting values may not reflect the actual capability of the display. This problem is frequently encountered when the EDID block has a single entry, the single mode entry will fail validation. To prevent this, calculate the values based on the same method used in fb_validate_mode(). * [PATCH] fbdev: Remove duplicate #include'sAdrian Bunk2006-06-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | Remove unneeded duplicate #include's of the same header file. In the case of fbmon.c linux/pci.h is now #include'd unconditional, but this should be safe. * [PATCH] fbdev: Make BIOS EDID reading configurableAntonino A. Daplas2006-03-27
| | | | | | | | | | | DDC reading via the Video BIOS may take several tens of seconds with some combination of display cards and monitors. Make this option configurable. It defaults to `y' to minimise disruption. Signed-off-by: Antonino Daplas <adaplas@pol.net> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

* [PATCH] fbdev: Reduce stack usageAntonino A. Daplas2006-01-10
| | | | | | | | | calc_mode_timings() and fb_get_mode() are using more than 500 bytes off the stack. Fix. Signed-off-by: Antonino Daplas <adaplas@pol.net> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] fbdev: Rearrange mode database entriesAntonino A. Daplas2005-11-07
| | | | | | | | | | Rearrange mode database entries such that preferred timings are entered first, and less preferred timings are entered last. (Detailed, VESA, established/standard). * [PATCH] fbdev: Workaround for buggy EDID blocksAntonino A. Daplas2005-11-07
| | | | | | | | | | Some EDID blocks set the flag "prefer first detailed timing" without providing any detailed timing at all. Clear this flag if the block does not provide detailed timings. * [PATCH] fbdev: Initialize var structure in calc_mode_timingsAntonino A. Daplas2005-09-09
| | | | | | | | | The var structure in calc_mode_timings is not properly initialized (zero set) which leads to undefined behavior when it is passed to fb_get_mode(). * [PATCH] fbdev: Resurrect hooks to get EDID from firmwareAntonino A. Daplas2005-09-09
| | | | | | | | | | | | | For the i386, code is already present in video.S that gets the EDID from the video BIOS. Make this visible so drivers can also use this data as fallback when i2c does not work. To ensure that the EDID block is returned for the primary graphics adapter only, by check if the IORESOURCE_ROM_SHADOW flag is set. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
