* netwave: move driver to stagingJohn W. Linville2009-10-30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Move the netwave driver to drivers/staging. This is another pre-802.11 driver that has seen virtually no non-API-fixup activity in years, and for which no active hardware is likely to still exist. This driver represents unnecessary ongoing maintenance for no clear benefit. This patch brought to you by the "hacking" session at the 2009 Kernel Summit in Tokyo, Japan... Acked-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
* wireless: convert drivers to netdev_tx_tStephen Hemminger2009-09-01
| | | | | | | | | | | Mostly just simple conversions: * ray_cs had bogus return of NET_TX_LOCKED but driver was not using NETIF_F_LLTX * hostap and ipw2x00 had some code that returned value from a called function that also had to change to return netdev_tx_t Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@vyatta.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* net: use NETDEV_TX_OK instead of 0 in ndo_start_xmit() functionsPatrick McHardy2009-07-05
| | | | | | | | | | | This patch is the result of an automatic spatch transformation to convert all ndo_start_xmit() return values of 0 to NETDEV_TX_OK. Some occurences are missed by the automatic conversion, those will be handled in a seperate patch. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. * drivers/net: Kill now superfluous ->last_rx stores.David S. Miller2008-11-04
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The generic packet receive code takes care of setting netdev->last_rx when necessary, for the sake of the bonding ARP monitor. Drivers need not do it any more. Some cases had to be skipped over because the drivers were making use of the ->last_rx value themselves. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* net: convert print_mac to %pMJohannes Berg2008-10-27
| | | | | | | | | | | | This converts pretty much everything to print_mac. There were a few things that had conflicts which I have just dropped for now, no harm done. I've built an allyesconfig with this and looked at the files that weren't built very carefully, but it's a huge patch. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: David S. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of using own error or success codes, the PCMCIA code should rely on the generic return values. Therefore, replace all occurrences of CS_SUCCESS with 0. CC: netdev@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* | pcmcia: Fix up legacy driver IRQsAlan Cox2008-09-24
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The PCMCIA layer obsoleted asking for per device private IRQS some years ago and all the drivers by inspection correctly use dev_id and handle shared interrupts [they get em anyway in most PCI bridged PCMCIA/Cardbus] so can be adjusted. This gets rid of the various bugs reported where there is spewage about conflicting irq types and sometimes the driver won't load. | | | | | | | | | | | | It's been a useless no-op for long enough in 2.6 so I figured it's time to remove it. * [PATCH] PCMCIA: fix drivers broken by recent cleanupDaniel Ritz2007-01-11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Setting .ConfigBase and .Present is now done at the pcmcia core. The driver cleanup missed a few places where the driver did set .Present to PRESENT_OPTION and later to the values from the CIS. Setting to PRESENT_OPTION now overrides the values from the CIS. So just remove those lines. Signed-off-by: Daniel Ritz <daniel.ritz@gmx.ch> Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: conf.ConfigBase and conf.Present consolidationDominik Brodowski2006-12-04
| | | | | | | | | | | struct pcmcia_device *p_dev->conf.ConfigBase and .Present are set in almost all PCMICA driver right at the beginning, using the same calls but slightly different implementations. Unfiy this in the PCMCIA core. Includes a small bugfix ("drivers/net/pcmcia/xirc2ps_cs.c: remove unused label") from and Signed-off-by Adrian Bunk <bunk@stusta.de> Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* IRQ: Maintain regs pointer globally rather than passing to IRQ handlersDavid Howells2006-10-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Maintain a per-CPU global "struct pt_regs *" variable which can be used instead of passing regs around manually through all ~1800 interrupt handlers in the Linux kernel. The regs pointer is used in few places, but it potentially costs both stack space and code to pass it around. On the FRV arch, removing the regs parameter from all the genirq function results in a 20% speed up of the IRQ exit path (ie: from leaving timer_interrupt() to leaving do_IRQ()). Where appropriate, an arch may override the generic storage facility and do something different with the variable. On FRV, for instance, the address is maintained in GR28 at all times inside the kernel as part of general exception handling. Having looked over the code, it appears that the parameter may be handed down through up to twenty or so layers of functions. Consider a USB character device attached to a USB hub, attached to a USB controller that posts its interrupts through a cascaded auxiliary interrupt controller. A character device driver may want to pass regs to the sysrq handler through the input layer which adds another few layers of parameter passing. I've build this code with allyesconfig for x86_64 and i386. I've runtested the main part of the code on FRV and i386, though I can't test most of the drivers. I've also done partial conversion for powerpc and MIPS - these at least compile with minimal configurations. This will affect all archs. Mostly the changes should be relatively easy. Take do_IRQ(), store the regs pointer at the beginning, saving the old one: struct pt_regs *old_regs = set_irq_regs(regs); And put the old one back at the end: set_irq_regs(old_regs); Don't pass regs through to generic_handle_irq() or __do_IRQ(). In timer_interrupt(), this sort of change will be necessary: - update_process_times(user_mode(regs)); - profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING, regs); + update_process_times(user_mode(get_irq_regs())); + profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING); I'd like to move update_process_times()'s use of get_irq_regs() into itself, except that i386, alone of the archs, uses something other than user_mode(). Some notes on the interrupt handling in the drivers: (*) input_dev() is now gone entirely. The regs pointer is no longer stored in the input_dev struct. (*) finish_unlinks() in drivers/usb/host/ohci-q.c needs checking. It does something different depending on whether it's been supplied with a regs pointer or not. (*) Various IRQ handler function pointers have been moved to type irq_handler_t. * [PATCH] pcmcia: convert DEV_OK to pcmcia_dev_presentDominik Brodowski2006-03-31
| | | | | | | Instead of the DEV_OK macro, drivers should use pcmcia_dev_present(). Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: use bitfield instead of p_state and stateDominik Brodowski2006-03-31
| | | | | | | | | | Instead of the two status values struct pcmcia_device->p_state and state, use descriptive bitfields. Most value-checking in drivers was invalid, as the core now only calls the ->remove() (a.k.a. detach) function in case the attachement _and_ configuration was successful. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: add return value to _config() functionsDominik Brodowski2006-03-31
| | | | | | | | Most of the driver initialization isn't done in the .probe function, but in the internal _config() functions. Make them return a value, so that .probe can properly report whether the probing of the device succeeded or not. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: remove dev_link_t and client_handle_t indirectionDominik Brodowski2006-03-31
| | | | | | | dev_link_t * and client_handle_t both mean struct pcmcai_device * by now. Therefore, remove all such indirections. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: embed dev_link_t into struct pcmcia_deviceDominik Brodowski2006-03-31
| | | | | | | | | Embed dev_link_t into struct pcmcia_device(), as they basically address the same entity. The actual contents of dev_link_t will be cleaned up step by step. This patch includes a bugfix from and signed-off-by Andrew Morton. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: remove unneeded Vcc pseudo settingDominik Brodowski2006-03-31
| | | | | | | | | As we do not allow setting Vcc in the pcmcia core, and Vpp1 and Vpp2 can only be set to the same value, a lot of code can be streamlined. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: default suspend and resume handlingDominik Brodowski2006-03-31
| | | | | | | | | | In all but one case, the suspend and resume functions of PCMCIA drivers contain mostly of calls to pcmcia_release_configuration() and pcmcia_request_configuration(). Therefore, move this code out of the drivers and into the core. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: add pcmcia_disable_deviceDominik Brodowski2006-03-31
| | | | | | | | | | pcmcia_disable_device(struct pcmcia_device *p_dev) performs the necessary cleanups upon device or driver removal: it calls the appropriate pcmcia_release_* functions, and can replace (most) of the current drivers' _release() functions. * [PATCH] net/: fix the WIRELESS_EXT abuseAdrian Bunk2006-01-30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch contains the following changes: - add a CONFIG_WIRELESS_EXT select'ed by NET_RADIO for conditional code - remove the now no longer required #ifdef CONFIG_NET_RADIO from some #include's Based on a patch by Jean Tourrilhes <jt@hpl.hp.com>. * [PATCH] pcmcia: unify attach, EVENT_CARD_INSERTION handlers into one probe ↵Dominik Brodowski2006-01-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | callback Unify the EVENT_CARD_INSERTION and "attach" callbacks to one unified probe() callback. As all in-kernel drivers are changed to this new callback, there will be no temporary backwards-compatibility. Inside a probe() function, each driver _must_ set struct pcmcia_device *p_dev->instance and instance->handle correctly. With these patches, the basic driver interface for 16-bit PCMCIA drivers now has the classic four callbacks known also from other buses: int (*probe) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); void (*remove) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); int (*suspend) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); int (*resume) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: remove dev_list from driversDominik Brodowski2006-01-05
| | | | | | | | The linked list of devices managed by each PCMCIA driver is, in very most cases, unused. Therefore, remove it from many drivers. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: unify detach, REMOVAL_EVENT handlers into one remove callbackDominik Brodowski2006-01-05
| | | | | | | | Unify the "detach" and REMOVAL_EVENT handlers to one "remove" function. Old functionality is preserved, for the moment. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
* [PATCH] pcmcia: new suspend coreDominik Brodowski2006-01-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Move the suspend and resume methods out of the event handler, and into special functions. Also use these functions for pre- and post-reset, as almost all drivers already do, and the remaining ones can easily be converted. * [PATCH] pcmcia: move event handlerDominik Brodowski2005-07-07
| | | | | | | | | | Move the "event handler" to struct pcmcia_driver -- the unified event handler will disappear really soon, but switching it to struct pcmcia_driver in the meantime allows for better "step-by-step" patches. * Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds2005-04-16
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
