* netdev: restore MTU change operationBen Hutchings2009-07-12
| | | | | | | | | alloc_etherdev() used to install a default implementation of this operation, but it must now be explicitly installed in struct net_device_ops. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <ben@decadent.org.uk> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* netdev: restore MAC address set and validate operationsBen Hutchings2009-07-12

* sparc64: Fix unsigned long long warnings in drivers.Sam Ravnborg2009-01-06
| | | | | | | | | | | | Fix warnings caused by the unsigned long long usage in sparc specific drivers. The drivers were considered sparc specific more or less from the filename alone. * net: convert print_mac to %pMJohannes Berg2008-10-27
| | | | | | | | | | | | This converts pretty much everything to print_mac. There were a few things that had conflicts which I have just dropped for now, no harm done. I've built an allyesconfig with this and looked at the files that weren't built very carefully, but it's a huge patch. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* sparc64: Apply const or __initdata to vio_device_id[]David S. Miller2008-09-01
| | | | | | | | This mirrors the of_device_id[] changes done in fd098316ef533e8441576f020ead4beab93154ce ("sparc: Annotate of_device_id arrays with const or __initdata.") Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* drivers/net/sunvnet.c:print_version() must be __devinitAdrian Bunk2008-02-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch fixes the following section mismatches: <-- snip --> ... WARNING: drivers/net/sunvnet.o(.text+0x220): Section mismatch in reference from the function print_version() to the variable .devinit.data:version WARNING: drivers/net/sunvnet.o(.text+0x228): Section mismatch in reference from the function print_version() to the variable .devinit.data:version ... <-- snip --> Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jeff@garzik.org> Signed-off-by: David S. * [NET]: ethtool_perm_addr only has one implementationMatthew Wilcox2007-07-31
| | | | | | | | | All drivers implement ethtool get_perm_addr the same way -- by calling the generic function. So we can inline the generic function into the caller and avoid going through the drivers. Signed-off-by: Matthew Wilcox <matthew@wil.cx> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* [SPARC64]: Fix reset handling in VNET driver.David S. Miller2007-07-18
| | | | | | | In vnet_event(), if the channel was reset, try to get the link going again by invoking vio_port_up() after dropping the lock. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [SPARC64]: Simplify VNET probing.David S. Miller2007-07-18
| | | | | | | Only probe on the vdc-port VIO devices, create parent vnet objects on-demand. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [SPARC64]: Abstract out mdesc accesses for better MD update handling.David S. Miller2007-07-16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since we have to be able to handle MD updates, having an in-tree set of data structures representing the MD objects actually makes things more painful. The MD itself is easy to parse, and we can implement the existing interfaces using direct parsing of the MD binary image. The MD is now reference counted, so accesses have to now take the form: handle = mdesc_grab(); ... operations on MD ... mdesc_release(handle); The only remaining issue are cases where code holds on to references to MD property values. mdesc_get_property() returns a direct pointer to the property value, most cases just pull in the information they need and discard the pointer, but there are few that use the pointer directly over a long lifetime. Those will be fixed up in a subsequent changeset. A preliminary handler for MD update events from domain services is there, it is rudimentry but it works and handles all of the reference counting. It does not check the generation number of the MDs, and it does not generate a "add/delete" list for notification to interesting parties about MD changes but that will be forthcoming.
