| * [PATCH] Remove more unnecessary driver printk'sAndy Gospodarek2006-09-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As I promised last week, here is the first pass at removing all unnecessary printk's that exist in network device drivers currently in promiscuous mode. The duplicate messages are not needed so they have been removed. Some of these drivers are quite old and might not need an update, but I did them all anyway. I am currently auditing the remaining conditional printk's and will send out a patch for those soon. Signed-off-by: Andy Gospodarek <andy@greyhouse.net> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jeff@garzik.org>

* [PATCH] lockdep: annotate 3c59x.c disable_irq()Ingo Molnar2006-07-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | 3c59x.c's vortex_timer() function knows that vp->lock can only be used by an irq context that it disabled - and can hence take the vp->lock without disabling hardirqs. Teach lockdep about this. Has no effect on non-lockdep kernels. * | [netdrvr] Remove long-unused bits from Becker template driversJeff Garzik2006-06-26
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Symbols such as PCI_USES_IO, PCI_ADDR0, etc. originated from Donald Becker's net driver template, but have been long unused. Remove. In a few drivers, this allows the further eliminate of the pci_flags (or just plain flags) member in the template driver probe structure. Most of this logic is simply open-coded in most drivers, since it never changes. Made a few other cleanups while I was in there, too: * constify, __devinitdata several PCI ID tables * replace table terminating entries such as "{0,}," and "{NULL}," with a more-clean "{ }". * [SPARC]: Kill __irq_itoa().David S. Miller2006-06-20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This ugly hack was long overdue to die. It was a way to print out Sparc interrupts in a more freindly format, since IRQ numbers were arbitrary opaque 32-bit integers which vectored into PIL levels. These 32-bit integers were not necessarily in the 0-->NR_IRQS range, but the PILs they vectored to were. The idea now is that we will increase NR_IRQS a little bit and use a virtual<-->real IRQ number mapping scheme similar to PowerPC. That makes this IRQ printing hack irrelevant, and furthermore only a handful of drivers actually used __irq_itoa() making it even less useful. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [PATCH] 3c59x: fix networking for 10base2 NICsSteffen Klassert2006-03-31
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The "3c59x: use mii_check_media" patch introduced a netif_carrier_off in vortex_up. 10base2 stoped working because of this. This is removed. Tx/Rx reset is back in vortex_up because the 3c900B-Combo stops working after changing from half duplex to full duplex when Tx/Rx reset is done with vortex_timer. Also brought back some mii stuff to be sure that it does not break something else. Thanks to Pete Clements <clem@clem.clem-digital.net> for reporting and testing. * [PATCH] 3c59x: enable use of memory-mapped PCI I/OJohn W. Linville2005-11-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add capability for 3c59x driver to use memory-mapped PCI I/O resources. This may improve performance for those devices so equipped. This will be the default behaviour for IS_CYCLONE and IS_TORNADO devices. Additionally, it can be enabled/disabled individually for up to MAX_UNITS number of devices via the use_mmio module option or for all units via the global_use_mmio option. The use_mmio option overrides the global_use_mmio option for those devices specified. Signed-off-by: John W. * [PATCH] 3c59x PM fixesRafael J. Wysocki2005-09-07
| | | | | | | | | | This patch adds some missing pci-related calls to the suspend and resume routines of the 3c59x driver. It also makes the driver free/request IRQ on suspend/resume, in accordance with the proposal at: http://lists.osdl.org/pipermail/linux-pm/2005-May/000955.html Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [NET]: Remove gratuitous use of skb->tail in network drivers.David S. Miller2005-06-28
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Many drivers use skb->tail unnecessarily. In these situations, the code roughly looks like: dev = dev_alloc_skb(...); [optional] skb_reserve(skb, ...); ... skb->tail ... But even if the skb_reserve() happens, skb->data equals skb->tail. So it doesn't make any sense to use anything other than skb->data in these cases. Another case was the s2io.c driver directly mucking with the skb->data and skb->tail pointers. It really just wanted to do an skb_reserve(), so that's what the code was changed to do instead. Another reason I'm making this change as it allows some SKB cleanups I have planned simpler to merge. In those cleanups, skb->head, skb->tail, and skb->end pointers are removed, and replaced with skb->head_room and skb->tail_room integers. Signed-off-by: David S. * Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds2005-04-16
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
