| * mei: fix mei_poll operationTomas Winkler2015-04-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | mei_poll returned with POLLIN w/o checking whether the operation has really completed. remove redundant check and locking in amthif specific handler Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
| * mei: simplify io callback disposalTomas Winkler2015-03-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Simplify disposal of io callback by removing the callback implicitly from its lookup list inside mei_io_cb_free Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
| * mei: always initialize the callback with the intended operation typeTomas Winkler2015-03-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We set the operation type at initialization time as each cb is used only for a single type of operation As a byproduct we add a convenient wrapper for allocating cb with the data buffer. Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
| * mei: use only one buffer in callbackTomas Winkler2015-03-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The callback structure is used exclusively for reading or writing therefore there is no reason to hold both response and request buffers in the callback structure Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
| * mei: iamthif: use regular client read functionsTomas Winkler2015-03-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Reduce code duplication in amthif by reusing regular client read functions. The change also removes the need for amthif own buffering Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
| * mei: iamthif: use client write functionsTomas Winkler2015-03-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Reduce code duplication in amthif code by reusing regular client write functions. Add completed flag to cb so amthif client can add rx credits on write completion Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
| * mei: iamthif: send flow control as a regular clientTomas Winkler2015-03-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Reuse common client mechanism for sending flow control hbm message. Add new function mei_amthif_read_start similar to mei_cl_read_start that puts control flow request onto the control write queue and drop mei_amthif_irq_read function Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
| * mei: iamthif: remove useless iamthif_ioctl variableTomas Winkler2015-03-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | iamthif_ioctl is obsolete and can be safely dropped Currently it is set to true during driver runtime Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
| * mei: iamthif: fix device reset on mei_amthif_irq_read_msgTomas Winkler2015-03-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | On failure mei_amthif_irq_read_msg returns an error that will cause device reset but the issue is software one so instead we should propagate error to caller and just clean the read queues. As a side effect also removes useless BUG_ONs Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* | fs: move struct kiocb to fs.hChristoph Hellwig2015-03-25
|/ | | | | | | | struct kiocb now is a generic I/O container, so move it to fs.h. Also do a #include diet for aio.h while we're at it. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
* mei: add reference counting for me clientsTomas Winkler2015-01-25
| | | | | | | | | | To support dynamic addition and removal of me clients we add reference counter. Update kdoc with locking requirements. Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: use local cl variables in wd and amthifTomas Winkler2014-11-03
| | | | | | | | | Use local cl variable instead of dev->iamthif_cl and dev->wd_cl as the first step to use dynamic allocation of these clients as their are not supported on all platforms Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: drop unneeded client NULL check in cb structureAlexander Usyskin2014-11-03
| | | | | | | | | | | The pointer to client in the callback structure (cb->cl) can't be NULL with current locking. We can drop check and warnings as in some cases this just uselessly complicates the code flow. Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

* mei: remove include to pci header from mei module filesTomas Winkler2014-09-29
| | | | | | | | | Remove inclusion of linux/pci.h in mei layer however we need to include the headers that before got included implicitly from linux/pci.h. Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: get rid of most of the pci dependencies in meiTomas Winkler2014-09-29
| | | | | | | | | | For purpose of adding testing HW we would like to get rid of pci dependency in generic mei code This patch provides only straight forward changes FW status and prob quirks need to be handled separately Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: kill error message for allocation failureTomas Winkler2014-09-29
| | | | | | | | There is no need to log memory allocation errors as this is already done by the memory subsystem. Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: fix style warning: Missing a blank line after declarationsTomas Winkler2014-09-29
| | | | | | | fix new style warning: Missing a blank line after declarations Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: add mei_me_cl_by_uuid_id functionTomas Winkler2014-09-24
| | | | | | | | | | When handling dynamic clients there might be a race scenario in which two me clients with the same me address would be linked in the me clients list, therefore we need to search by both uuid and me address. Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: me_client lookup function to return me_client objectTomas Winkler2014-09-24
| | | | | | | | | | | | For support of dynamic addition and removal of me clients it is more convenient to use a list instead of static array as is use now. As the first step of the transition to the new data structure we change the lookup function so it returns me client address instead of an index. Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: amthif: don't check amthif client identity on amthif queuesAlexander Usyskin2014-09-24
| | | | | | | | | Amthif has its own queues therefore it is redundant to check the client type when processing the queues Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: set connecting state just upon connection request is sent to the fwAlexander Usyskin2014-05-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Adding power gating introduced new waiting state for client also during connection attempt, a connection request can be queued for later either due device is power gated or due to other on going connection. We setting client connection state before start of full connect procedure so in both cased the client state will be MEI_FILE_CONNECTING which create interlock between the two connection attempts, both detecting that another connection is in progress. The interlock is resolved by moving client to connecting state only upon connection request transmission, so the first cb in queue can be processed. Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: amthif: fix checkpatch errorTomas Winkler2014-03-17

* mei: report consistently copy_from/to_user failuresAlexander Usyskin2014-03-17
| | | | | | | | | Consistently display error on possible copy_from/to_user failures use dev_dbg so it cannot be abused to flood the kernel log Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: make me hw headers private to me hw.Tomas Winkler2014-03-17
| | | | | | | | | Remove includes of me-hw.h and me-hw-regs.h headers from the mei generic code. The mei layer should not depend on hw specific headers Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: make return values consistent across the driverAlexander Usyskin2014-02-28
| | | | | | | | | | | | 1. Propagate ENOTTY to user space if the client is not present in the system 2. Use ETIME consistently on timeouts 3. Return EIO on write failures 4. Return ENODEV on recoverable device failures such as resets Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: revamp writing slot countingTomas Winkler2014-02-28
| | | | | | | | | | Since txe use doorbell and not circular buffer we have to cheat in write slot counting, txe always consume all the slots upon write. In order for it to work we need to track slots using mei_hbuf_empty_slots() instead of tracking it in mei layer Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: add mei_hbuf_acquire wrapperTomas Winkler2014-02-28
| | | | | | | | | | | | A client has to acquire host buffer before writing, we add lock like wrapper to replace the code snippet if (dev->hbuf_is_ready) dev->hbuf_is_ready = false; Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: don't of list_for_each_entry_safe when not deletingTomas Winkler2014-02-18
| | | | | | | | We can use simply list_for_each_entry if there is no entry removal Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: wd and amthif use mei_cl_ api for dis/connectionTomas Winkler2014-02-18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Connect wd and amthif through regular mei_cl_connect API as there is no reason to connect in asynchronous mode. Also use mei_cl_is_connected in order to protect flows instead of depending on wd_pending and amthif_timer Now we can remove all the special handling in hbm layer Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Alexander Usyskin <alexander.usyskin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: rename MEI_FOP_IOCTL to MEI_FOP_CONNECTTomas Winkler2014-02-14
| | | | | | | | This operation actually only support connection and not a generic ioctl Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* drivers/misc: delete non-required instances of include <linux/init.h>Paul Gortmaker2014-02-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | None of these files are actually using any __init type directives and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to code getting copied from one driver to the next. Cc: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Cc: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

* mei: enable marking internal commandsTomas Winkler2013-12-18
| | | | | | | | | Set hbm header bit 30 for internal commands This mark commands that are generated by the device driver Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: amthif: mei_amthif_host_init: propagate errors from called functionsTomas Winkler2013-10-03
| | | | | | | propagate error codes from called functions, they are correct. Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: revamp open handler countsTomas Winkler2013-10-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Make open counter to be incremented and decremented from mei_cl_link and mei_cl_unlik function respectively Nfc was assuming symmetric linking API and thus open handler count was never decreased. This patch fixes that. We need to add separate open hander count for amthif which is handled out of link/unlink functions and doesn't break the symmetric API. Last we do not waste clients slots if amthif or wd are not present in the device. we don't need to allocates slots ahead it is all covered by link/unlink before the devices is responding to user space connection and thus not racing on allocation Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* Merge 3.12-rc3 into char-misc-nextGreg Kroah-Hartman2013-09-29

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | this eventually allows as use a single write queue both for control and data messages and removing possible race Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* | mei: propagate error from write routines instead of ENODEVTomas Winkler2013-09-26
|/ | | | | | | | | | ENODEV will cause application to try to reconnect since it assumes that device went through the reset write errors are not always fatal it can happen due to resource contention Signed-off-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
* mei: don't get stuck in select during resetTomas Winkler2013-07-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | Clear pending connection after hw reset but before hw start and wake up the waiting task in poll. Signal POLLERR in select when device went through reset. Add wrapper mei_cl_is_connected for checking if the device and client are connected.
