This is done so that host can detect end of transfer and pass data for processing. Still, frames that are multiple of 16K in size gets dropped. The ZLP sent by camera is ignored by uvc_video_decode_bulk(). The makes sure that the ZLP is not part of a video frame before ignoring it. If ZLP follows a video frame, then it triggers completion callback. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Logitech pan/tilt reset UVC control contains two V4L2 button controls to reset pan and tilt. As the UVC control is not marked as auto-update, the button bits are set but never reset. A pan reset that follows a tilt reset would thus reset both pan and tilt. Fix this by not caching the control value of write-only controls. All standard UVC controls are either readable or auto-update, so this will not cause any regression and will not result in extra USB requests. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If the V4L2_EVENT_SUB_FL_SEND_INITIAL was set, then the application expects to receive an initial event of the initial value of the control. However, commit c53c2549333b340e2662dc64ec81323476b69a97 that added the new v4l2_subscribed_event_ops introduced a regression: while the code still queued that initial event the __v4l2_event_queue_fh() function was modified to ignore such requests if sev->elems was 0 (meaning that the event subscription wasn't finished yet). And sev->elems was only set to a non-zero value after the add operation returned. This patch fixes this by passing the elems value to the add function. Then the add function can set it before queuing the initial event. If a DQBUF call arrives in-between, uvc_video_clock_update() will be called with a NULL clock samples buffer, leading to a crash. This occurs very frequently when using the webcam with the flash browser plugin. Move clock initialization/cleanup to uvc_video_enable() in order to free the clock samples buffer after the queue is stopped. Make sure the clock is reset at resume time to avoid miscalculating timestamps. When a large xmap->menu_count is passed from the userspace, the subsequent call to kmalloc() will allocate a buffer smaller than expected. map->menu_count and map->menu_info would later be used in a loop (e.g. in uvc_query_v4l2_ctrl), which leads to out-of-bound access. The patch checks the ioctl argument and returns -EINVAL for zero or too large values in xmap->menu_count. | * [media] media: Fix a UVC performance problem on systems with non-coherent DMAAl Cooper2011-09-23
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The UVC driver uses usb_alloc_coherent() to allocate DMA data buffers. On systems without coherent DMA this ends up allocating buffers in uncached memory. The subsequent memcpy's done to coalesce the DMA chunks into contiguous buffers then run VERY slowly. On a MIPS test system the memcpy is about 200 times slower. This issue prevents the system from keeping up with 720p YUYV data at 10fps. The following patch uses kmalloc to alloc the DMA buffers instead of usb_alloc_coherent on systems without coherent DMA. With this patch the system was easily able to keep up with 720p at 10fps.
