* Convert files to UTF-8 and some cleanupsJan Engelhardt2007-10-19
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * Convert files to UTF-8. * Also correct some people's names (one example is Eißfeldt, which was found in a source file. Given that the author used an ß at all in a source file indicates that the real name has in fact a 'ß' and not an 'ss', which is commonly used as a substitute for 'ß' when limited to 7bit.) * Correct town names (Goettingen -> Göttingen) * Update Eberhard Mönkeberg's address (http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/1/8/313) Signed-off-by: Jan Engelhardt <jengelh@gmx.de> Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@kernel.org>

* get rid of input BIT* duplicate definesJiri Slaby2007-10-19
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | get rid of input BIT* duplicate defines use newly global defined macros for input layer. Also remove includes of input.h from non-input sources only for BIT macro definiton. Define the macro temporarily in local manner, all those local definitons will be removed further in this patchset (to not break bisecting). BIT macro will be globally defined (1<<x) Signed-off-by: Jiri Slaby <jirislaby@gmail.com> Cc: <dtor@mail.ru> Acked-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz> Cc: <lenb@kernel.org> Acked-by: Marcel Holtmann <marcel@holtmann.org> Cc: <perex@suse.cz> Acked-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org> Cc: <vernux@us.ibm.com> Cc: <malattia@linux.it> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
* freezer: introduce freezer-friendly waiting macrosRafael J. Wysocki2007-10-18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Introduce freezer-friendly wrappers around wait_event_interruptible() and wait_event_interruptible_timeout(), originally defined in <linux/wait.h>, to be used in freezable kernel threads. Make some of the freezable kernel threads use them. This is necessary for the freezer to stop sending signals to kernel threads, which is implemented in the next patch. Signed-off-by: Rafael J. | * kconfig: syntax cleanup - drop support for "depends/requires/def_boolean"Adrian Bunk2007-10-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Remove the following redundant and never or rarely used kconfig syntax: - "def_boolean" (same as "def_bool") - "requires" (same as "depends on") - "depends" (same as "depends on") This patch contains the code changes and Kconfig updates. * / / drivers/firmware: const-ify DMI API and internalsJeff Garzik2007-10-09
|/ / | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Three main sets of changes: 1) dmi_get_system_info() return value should have been marked const, since callers should not be changing that data. 2) const-ify DMI internals, since DMI firmware tables should, whenever possible, be marked const to ensure we never ever write to that data area. 3) const-ify DMI API, to enable marking tables const where possible in low-level drivers. And if we're really lucky, this might enable some additional optimizations on the part of the compiler. The bulk of the changes are #2 and #3, which are interrelated. #1 could have been a separate patch, but it was so small compared to the others, it was easier to roll it into this changeset.
