* drm/radeon/kms: don't crash if no DDC bus on VGA/DVI connector.Dave Airlie2010-02-08
| | | | | | | | | | | | This is strange - like really really strange, twilight zone of strange. VGA ports have DDC buses, but sometimes for some reasons the BIOS says we don't and we oops - AMD mentioned bios bugs so we'll have to add quirks. reported on irc by nirbheek and https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=554323 Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
* drm/radeon/kms: clean up pll structAlex Deucher2010-01-24

* drm/radeon/kms: Forbid creation of framebuffer with no valid GEM objectJerome Glisse2010-01-20
| | | | | | | | | This will avoid oops if at later point the fb is use. Trying to create a framebuffer with no valid GEM object is bogus and should be forbidden as this patch does. Signed-off-by: Jerome Glisse <jglisse@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@linux.ie>
* drm/radeon/kms: Do not unpin buffer in fb destructionJerome Glisse2010-01-13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | It's not necessary to unpin buffer in fb destruction. pin/unpin need to be balanced and we don't pin in fb creation. We pin when an fb is associated to a crtc and unpin when the fb is disassociated from the crtc. Note: Maybe we should take reference on fb in set_base callback so fb doesn't disappear until it's unbind from ctrc. * drm/radeon/kms: fix displayport->dvi connector DDC.Dave Airlie2010-01-13
| | | | | | | | | | It appears that attempting AUXCH DDC breaks the subsequent attempt to do DDC over the i2c lines, so use the sink type to determine if we should be doing AUXCH or i2c DDC. This fixes my DVI monitor plugged into DP->DVI convertor. Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
* drm/radeon/kms: add support for eDP (embedded DisplayPort)Alex Deucher2010-01-07

| | | | | | | | | | | | Supported on all AVIVO-based asics. Can be disabled via the new_pll module parameter: new_pll=0 - disable new_pll=1 - enable enabled by default [airlied: fixed to use do_div] Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexdeucher@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@linux.ie>
* drm/radeon/kms: connector fixesAlex Deucher2009-12-08
| | | | | | | | | | | - Don't add dac load detection property to DVI-D - Make sure i2c info is valid before adding DP aux chan bus - Don't create scaling_mode_property twice - fix typo that prevented coherent and load detection from working - add coherent prop to DP (for dp->dvi adapters) Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexdeucher@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
* drm/radeon/kms: enable hpd supportAlex Deucher2009-12-07
| | | | | | | | | | | This enabled interrupt driven hpd support for all radeon chips. Assuming the hpd pin is wired up correctly, the driver will generate uevents on digital monitor connect and disconnect and retrain DP monitors automatically. * drm/radeon/kms: add support for encoder cloning.Dave Airlie2009-12-01
| | | | | | | The RN50 really needs this since its a single crtc card, however other gpus may benefit from it as well. Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
* drm/radeon/kms: rework scaler handlingAlex Deucher2009-12-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Keep requested scaler type in radeon_encoder and the actual scaler type used in radeon_crtc. This prevents us from enabling the scaler when it's not required (i.e., the requested mode is the native mode). Also, always set the adjusted mode equal to the native mode for lvds. Should fix: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=522271 Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexdeucher@gmail.com> Acked-by: Jerome Glisse <jglisse@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
* drm/radeon/kms: clean up i2cAlex Deucher2009-12-01
| | | | | | | | | - Change reg/mask names to match what we use internally and in the bios - Clarify how i2c over gpio on radeon actually works Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexdeucher@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
* drm/radeon/kms: dont't pass a radeon_connector to radeon_i2c_do_lock()Alex Deucher2009-12-01

* drm/radeon/kms: fix connector edid handlingAlex Deucher2009-10-15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Based partly on a patch from Christian Koenig <deathsimple@vodafone.de> - fix several memory leaks in radeon_connector->edid handling - store edid in radeon_connector->edid in detect() or get_modes() - switch hdmi detect code to use radeon_connector->edid - add support for oem boards multiple connectors that share a ddc line. - short circuit lvds_detect() if have a stored edid Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexdeucher@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
* drm/radeon/kms: use drm_mode directly for panel modesAlex Deucher2009-10-11
| | | | | | | | This reduces the number of mode format conversions needed and makes native panel mode support cleaner. Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexdeucher@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
* drm/radeon/kms: don't refuse LUT because no framebuffer.Dave Airlie2009-10-11

* drm/fb: add more correct 8/16/24/32 bpp fb support.Dave Airlie2009-10-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The previous patches had some unwanted side effects, I've fixed the lack of 32bpp working, and fixed up 16bpp so it should also work. this also adds the interface to allow the driver to set a preferred console depth so for example low memory rn50 can set it to 8bpp. It also catches 24bpp on cards that can't do it and forces 32bpp. Tested on r100/r600/i945. Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
* drm/radeon/kms: respect single crtc cards, only create one crtc. (v2)Dave Airlie2009-10-04
| | | | | | | | | | Also add single crtc for RN50 chips. changes in v2: fix vblank init to respect single crtc flag fix r100 mode bandwidth to respect single crtc flag Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>

* drm/kms: move driver specific fb common code to helper functions (v2)Dave Airlie2009-08-30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Initially I always meant this code to be shared, but things ran away from me before I got to it. This refactors the i915 and radeon kms fbdev interaction layers out into generic helpers + driver specific pieces. It moves all the panic/sysrq enhancements to the core file, and stores a linked list of kernel fbs. This could possibly be improved to only store the fb which has fbcon on it for panics etc. radeon retains some specific codes used for a big endian workaround. changes: fix oops in v1 fix freeing path for crtc_info Reviewed-by: Jesse Barnes <jbarnes@virtuousgeek.org> Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
* drm/radeon/kms: fix bandwidth computation on avivo hardwareJerome Glisse2009-07-29

* drm/radeon: introduce kernel modesetting for radeon hardwareJerome Glisse2009-06-14
Add kernel modesetting support to radeon driver, use the ttm memory manager to manage memory and DRM/GEM to provide userspace API. In order to avoid backward compatibility issue and to allow clean design and code the radeon kernel modesetting use different code path than old radeon/drm driver. When kernel modesetting is enabled the IOCTL of radeon/drm driver are considered as invalid and an error message is printed in the log and they return failure. KMS enabled userspace will use new API to talk with the radeon/drm driver. The new API provide functions to create/destroy/share/mmap buffer object which are then managed by the kernel memory manager (here TTM). In order to submit command to the GPU the userspace provide a buffer holding the command stream, along this buffer userspace have to provide a list of buffer object used by the command stream. The kernel radeon driver will then place buffer in GPU accessible memory and will update command stream to reflect the position of the different buffers. The kernel will also perform security check on command stream provided by the user, we want to catch and forbid any illegal use of the GPU such as DMA into random system memory or into memory not owned by the process supplying the command stream. This part of the code is still incomplete and this why we propose that patch as a staging driver addition, future security might forbid current experimental userspace to run. This code support the following hardware : R1XX,R2XX,R3XX,R4XX,R5XX (radeon up to X1950). Works is underway to provide support for R6XX, R7XX and newer hardware (radeon from HD2XXX to HD4XXX).
