* mv watchdog tree under driversWim Van Sebroeck2007-10-18
| | | | | | move watchdog tree from drivers/char/watchdog to drivers/watchdog. Signed-off-by: Wim Van Sebroeck <wim@iguana.be>
* [WATCHDOG] pcwd.c: Port to the new device driver modelWim Van Sebroeck2007-05-05
| | | | | | | | Port the pcwd.c driver to the new device driver model. Since this is an ISA card, I used Rene Herman's new isa bus type. This made the probing for the card very "easy". Signed-off-by: Wim Van Sebroeck <wim@iguana.be>
* [WATCHDOG] timers cleanupJiri Slaby2007-02-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | - Use timer macros to set function and data members and to modify expiration time. - Use DEFINE_TIMER for single (platform dependent) watchdog timers and do not init them at run-time in these cases. - del_timer_sync is common in most cases -- we want to wait for timer function if it's still running. * [WATCHDOG] show default value for nowayout in module parameterWim Van Sebroeck2007-01-27
| | | | | | | | change default=CONFIG_WATCHDOG_NOWAYOUT in the module parameter for nowayout by it's real value (0 or 1) by using: __MODULE_STRING(WATCHDOG_NOWAYOUT) Signed-off-by: Wim Van Sebroeck <wim@iguana.be>
* [WATCHDOG] pcwd_usb.c - get heartbeat from dip switchesWim Van Sebroeck2007-01-09
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The PCWD cards normally use the heartbeat that is set via the dip-switches of the card. There are only 3 switches, thus 8 combinations that each have a certain heartbeat. The card can however be programmed with a heartbeat from 1 till 65535 seconds. This is what our driver does: it programs the heartbeat on the card. There are however a lot of people that don't know that we set the heartbeat of the watchdog card to the value provided by the heartbeat module parameter. Instead they think that the heartbeat value is the same as set by the dip-switches. This patch changes the driver so that at startup you can take the heartbeat from the dip-switches. You do this by setting the heartbeat module parameter to 0. This patch also makes this the default behaviour. Signed-off-by: Wim Van Sebroeck <wim@iguana.be>

* [WATCHDOG] use ENOTTY instead of ENOIOCTLCMD in ioctl()Samuel Tardieu2006-10-02
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Return ENOTTY instead of ENOIOCTLCMD in user-visible ioctl() results The watchdog drivers used to return ENOIOCTLCMD for bad ioctl() commands. ENOIOCTLCMD should not be visible by the user, so use ENOTTY instead. * [PATCH] make more file_operation structs staticArjan van de Ven2006-07-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | Mark the static struct file_operations in drivers/char as const. Making them const prevents accidental bugs, and moves them to the .rodata section so that they no longer do any false sharing; in addition with the proper debug option they are then protected against corruption.. * [WATCHDOG] pcwd.c general clean-up after patchesWim Van Sebroeck2006-04-02
| | | | | | | | | | removal of includes (since we don't use kmalloc and TASK_INTERRUPTABLE anymore). Addition of missing commands. Printk that lets the user know when the module was unloaded. Signed-off-by: Wim Van Sebroeck <wim@iguana.be>

* [PATCH] fix missing includesTim Schmielau2005-10-30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I recently picked up my older work to remove unnecessary #includes of sched.h, starting from a patch by Dave Jones to not include sched.h from module.h. This reduces the number of indirect includes of sched.h by ~300. Another ~400 pointless direct includes can be removed after this disentangling (patch to follow later). However, quite a few indirect includes need to be fixed up for this. In order to feed the patches through -mm with as little disturbance as possible, I've split out the fixes I accumulated up to now (complete for i386 and x86_64, more archs to follow later) and post them before the real patch. This way this large part of the patch is kept simple with only adding #includes, and all hunks are independent of each other. So if any hunk rejects or gets in the way of other patches, just drop it. My scripts will pick it up again in the next round. * [PATCH] pcwd.c: Call kernel_power_off not machine_power_offEric W. Biederman2005-07-26
| | | | | | | | | The call appears to come from process context so kernel_power_off should be safe. And acpi_power_off won't necessarily work if you just call machine_power_off. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@xmission.com> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
