* [PATCH] Add Computone IntelliPort Plus serial hotplug supportChuck Short2006-07-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Patch Description: Add "Computone IntelliPort Plus serial" hotplug support patch location: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/bcollins/ubuntu-dapper.git;a=commitdiff;h=8c36723187c0fa5efe0e5c6a9b1e66ed4b824792 [akpm@osdl.org: cleanup] Cc: Randy Dunlap <randy.dunlap@oracle.com> Signed-off-by: Chuck Short <zulcss@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] make more file_operation structs staticArjan van de Ven2006-07-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | Mark the static struct file_operations in drivers/char as const. Making them const prevents accidental bugs, and moves them to the .rodata section so that they no longer do any false sharing; in addition with the proper debug option they are then protected against corruption.. * [PATCH] devfs: Rename TTY_DRIVER_NO_DEVFS to TTY_DRIVER_DYNAMIC_DEVGreg Kroah-Hartman2006-06-26
| | | | | | | | | | I've always found this flag confusing. Now that devfs is no longer around, it has been renamed, and the documentation for when this flag should be used has been updated. Also fixes all drivers that use this flag. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] devfs: Remove the tty_driver devfs_name field as it's no longer neededGreg Kroah-Hartman2006-06-26
| | | | | | Also fixes all drivers that set this field. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
* [PATCH] devfs: Remove the devfs_fs_kernel.h file from the treeGreg Kroah-Hartman2006-06-26

* [PATCH] char/ip2: more section fixes (replacement)Randy Dunlap2006-06-25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Priority: tossup. In theory some of these (previously) __init functions could be called after init, but that problem has not been observed AFAIK. There were 2 cases of cleanup_module() (module_exit) calling __init functions (clear_requested_irq() & have_requested_irq()). These are more serious, but still not observed AFAIK. Fix sections mismatch: WARNING: drivers/char/ip2/ip2main.o - Section mismatch: reference to .init.text: from .text between 'cleanup_module' (at offset 0x228b) and 'ip2_loadmain' WARNING: drivers/char/ip2/ip2main.o - Section mismatch: reference to .init.text: from .text between 'cleanup_module' (at offset 0x22ae) and 'ip2_loadmain' WARNING: drivers/char/ip2/ip2main.o - Section mismatch: reference to .init.text: from .text between 'ip2_loadmain' (at offset 0x2501) and 'set_irq' WARNING: drivers/char/ip2/ip2main.o - Section mismatch: reference to .init.text: from .text between 'ip2_loadmain' (at offset 0x25de) and 'set_irq' WARNING: drivers/char/ip2/ip2main.o - Section mismatch: reference to .init.text: from .text between 'ip2_loadmain' (at offset 0x2698) and 'set_irq' WARNING: drivers/char/ip2/ip2main.o - Section mismatch: reference to .init.text: from .text between 'ip2_loadmain' (at offset 0x2922) and 'set_irq' WARNING: drivers/char/ip2/ip2main.o - Section mismatch: reference to .init.text: from .text between 'ip2_loadmain' (at offset 0x299e) and 'set_irq' Signed-off-by: Randy Dunlap <rdunlap@xenotime.net> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

| * [PATCH] ip2main.c warning fixesAndrew Morton2006-02-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With Eric's "i386: Add a temporary to make put_user more type safe" patch we get a pile of warnings out of ip2m1in.c: drivers/char/ip2main.c: In function `ip2_ipl_ioctl': drivers/char/ip2main.c:2910: warning: assignment makes integer from pointer without a cast drivers/char/ip2main.c:2911: warning: assignment makes integer from pointer without a cast drivers/char/ip2main.c:2912: warning: assignment makes integer from pointer without a cast etc. This ioctl is copying the kernel virtual address of a large number of functions out to userspace. Heaven knows why. Rather than fixing the warnings, I think we'll just nuke that code. The patch also fixes a couple of `defined but not used' warnings. * | Move ip2.c and ip2main.c to drivers/char/ip2/ where the other filesAdrian Bunk2006-01-19

* [PATCH] Fix pragma packing in ip2 driverDavid Howells2006-01-04
| | | | | | | | | | | This fixes the pragma packing in the ip2 driver by popping the previous setting rather than explicitly assuming that the correct setting is 4. This also gets around a compiler bug in the FRV compiler when building allmodconfig. Signed-Off-By: David Howells <dhowells@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
* [PATCH] kfree cleanup: drivers/charJesper Juhl2005-11-07
| | | | | | | | | | This is the drivers/char/ part of the big kfree cleanup patch. Remove pointless checks for NULL prior to calling kfree() in drivers/char/. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
