* powerpc/mpc83xx: Power Management supportScott Wood2008-07-16
| | | | | | | | | Basic PM support for 83xx. Standby is implemented as sleep. Suspend-to-RAM is implemented as "deep sleep" (with the processor turned off) on 831x. Signed-off-by: Scott Wood <scottwood@freescale.com> Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
* powerpc: Fix irq_alloc_host() reference counting and callersMichael Ellerman2008-06-08
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | When I changed irq_alloc_host() to take an of_node (52964f87c64e6c6ea671b5bf3030fb1494090a48: "Add an optional device_node pointer to the irq_host"), I botched the reference counting semantics. Stephen pointed out that it's irq_alloc_host()'s business if it needs to take an additional reference to the device_node, the caller shouldn't need to care. * powerpc: Rework ipic_init() so we can avoid freeing the irq_hostMichael Ellerman2008-06-08
| | | | | | | | | If we do the call to of_address_to_resource() first, then we don't need to worry about freeing the irq_host (which the code doesn't do currently anyway). Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <michael@ellerman.id.au> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
* [POWERPC] Fix crash in init_ipic_sysfs on efikaOlaf Hering2008-03-24
| | | | | | | | | | The global primary_ipic in arch/powerpc/sysdev/ipic.c can remain NULL if ipic_init() fails, which will happen on machines that don't have an ipic interrupt controller. init_ipic_sysfs() will crash in that case. | * Driver core: change sysdev classes to use dynamic kobject namesKay Sievers2008-01-24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | All kobjects require a dynamically allocated name now. We no longer need to keep track if the name is statically assigned, we can just unconditionally free() all kobject names on cleanup. * | [POWERPC] Add support for mpc512x interrupts to ipicJohn Rigby2008-01-23
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Added ipic_info entries for vectors used by 512x that were previously unused by 83xx. Signed-off-by: John Rigby <jrigby@freescale.com> Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
* | [POWERPC] ipic: ack only for edge interruptsLi Yang2007-12-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Only external interrupts in edge detect mode support ack operation. Therefore, in most cases ack is not needed. The patch makes ipic ack only when it's needed. This could boost over all system performance. Signed-off-by: Li Yang <leoli@freescale.com> Cc: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org> Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
* | [POWERPC] ipic: add new interrupts introduced by new chipLi Yang2007-12-11
|/ | | | | | | | These interrupts are introduced by the latest Freescale SoC such as MPC837x. Signed-off-by: Li Yang <leoli@freescale.com> Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
* [POWERPC] Add an optional device_node pointer to the irq_hostMichael Ellerman2007-09-13
| | | | | | | | | | The majority of irq_host implementations (3 out of 4) are associated with a device_node, and need to stash it somewhere. Rather than having it somewhere different for each host, add an optional device_node pointer to the irq_host structure. * [POWERPC] 83xx: Return a point to the struct ipic from ipic_init()Kumar Gala2007-01-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | It's useful to have access to struct ipic handle that just got created in ipic_init(). For example, if we want to setup an external IRQ with out a device node we need access ipic->irqhost to create the virtual to HW IRQ mapping and to set the IRQ sense. With this we can mimic the old sense array concept that existed in arch/ppc. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
* [POWERPC] arch/powerpc/sysdev/ipic.c of_node_get cleanupMariusz Kozlowski2007-01-24
| | | | | | | No need for ?: because of_node_get() can handle NULL argument. Signed-off-by: Mariusz Kozlowski <m.kozlowski@tuxland.pl> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
* [POWERPC] IPIC: Fix spinlock recursion in set_irq_handlerScott Wood2006-10-24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This causes ipic_set_irq_type to set the handler directly rather than call set_irq_handler, which causes spinlock recursion because the lock is already held when ipic_set_irq_type is called. I'm also not convinced that ipic_set_irq_type should be changing the handler at all. There seem to be several controllers that don't and several that do. Those that do would break what appears to be a common usage of calling set_irq_chip_and_handler followed by set_irq_type, if a non-standard handler were to be used. OTOH, irq_create_of_mapping() doesn't set the handler, but only calls set_irq_type(). This patch gets things working in the spinlock-debugging-enabled case, but I'm curious as to where the handler setting is ideally supposed to be done. I don't see any documentation on set_irq_type() that clarifies what the semantics are supposed to be. * [POWERPC] Fix IPIC pending register assignmentsScott Wood2006-09-22
| | | | | | | | | This patch fixes the assignment of pending registers to IRQ numbers for the IPIC; the code previously assigned all IRQs to the high pending word regardless of which word the interrupt belonged to. * [POWERPC] Adapt ipic driver to new host_ops interface, add set_irq_type to ↵Kim Phillips2006-08-29
| | | | | | | | | | | | set IRQ sense This converts ipic code to Benh's IRQ mods. For the IPIC, IRQ sense values in the device tree equal those in include/linux/irq.h; that's 8 for low assertion (most internal IRQs on mpc83xx), and 2 for high-to-low change. spinlocks added to [un]mask, ack operations; default handler and type now set in host_map; and redundant condition check eliminated. * [PATCH] genirq: rename desc->handler to desc->chipIngo Molnar2006-06-29
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch-queue improves the generic IRQ layer to be truly generic, by adding various abstractions and features to it, without impacting existing functionality. While the queue can be best described as "fix and improve everything in the generic IRQ layer that we could think of", and thus it consists of many smaller features and lots of cleanups, the one feature that stands out most is the new 'irq chip' abstraction. The irq-chip abstraction is about describing and coding and IRQ controller driver by mapping its raw hardware capabilities [and quirks, if needed] in a straightforward way, without having to think about "IRQ flow" (level/edge/etc.) type of details. This stands in contrast with the current 'irq-type' model of genirq architectures, which 'mixes' raw hardware capabilities with 'flow' details. The patchset supports both types of irq controller designs at once, and converts i386 and x86_64 to the new irq-chip design. As a bonus side-effect of the irq-chip approach, chained interrupt controllers (master/slave PIC constructs, etc.) are now supported by design as well. The end result of this patchset intends to be simpler architecture-level code and more consolidation between architectures. We reused many bits of code and many concepts from Russell King's ARM IRQ layer, the merging of which was one of the motivations for this patchset. This patch: rename desc->handler to desc->chip. Originally i did not want to do this, because it's a big patch. But having both "desc->handler", "desc->handle_irq" and "action->handler" caused a large degree of confusion and made the code appear alot less clean than it truly is. I have also attempted a dual approach as well by introducing a desc->chip alias - but that just wasnt robust enough and broke frequently. So lets get over with this quickly. The conversion was done automatically via scripts and converts all the code in the kernel. This renaming patch is the first one amongst the patches, so that the remaining patches can stay flexible and can be merged and split up without having some big monolithic patch act as a merge barrier.
