| * microblaze: Support timer on AXI liteMichal Simek2010-10-21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | New microblaze systems uses two buses. One for memories and flashes and the second for low-speed peripherals which can run on different CLK. This is the reason why the kernel is trying to read clock-frequency directly from node. If there is then the kernel will work with it. If not then cpu CLK is used. | * microblaze: Add support for little-endian MicroblazeMichal Simek2010-10-21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Microblaze little-endian toolchain exports __MICROBLAZEEL__ which is used in the kernel to identify little/big endian. The most of the changes are in loading values from DTB which is always big endian. Little endian platforms are based on new AXI bus which has impact to early uartlite initialization. * | of/flattree: Eliminate need to provide early_init_dt_scan_chosen_archGrant Likely2010-10-21
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch refactors the early init parsing of the chosen node so that architectures aren't forced to provide an empty implementation of early_init_dt_scan_chosen_arch. Instead, if an architecture wants to do something different, it can either use a wrapper function around early_init_dt_scan_chosen(), or it can replace it altogether. This patch was written in preparation to adding device tree support to both x86 ad MIPS. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Tested-by: David Daney <ddaney@caviumnetworks.com>

* | Make do_execve() take a const filename pointerDavid Howells2010-08-17
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Make do_execve() take a const filename pointer so that kernel_execve() compiles correctly on ARM: arch/arm/kernel/sys_arm.c:88: warning: passing argument 1 of 'do_execve' discards qualifiers from pointer target type This also requires the argv and envp arguments to be consted twice, once for the pointer array and once for the strings the array points to. This is because do_execve() passes a pointer to the filename (now const) to copy_strings_kernel(). A simpler alternative would be to cast the filename pointer in do_execve() when it's passed to copy_strings_kernel(). do_execve() may not change any of the strings it is passed as part of the argv or envp lists as they are some of them in .rodata, so marking these strings as const should be fine. Further kernel_execve() and sys_execve() need to be changed to match. This has been test built on x86_64, frv, arm and mips. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This list used was by only two platforms with all other platforms defining an own list of valid bus id's to pass to of_platform_bus_probe. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Both of_bus_type and of_platform_bus_type are just #define aliases for the platform bus. This patch removes all references to them and switches to the of_register_platform_driver()/of_unregister_platform_driver() API for registering. Subsequent patches will convert each user of of_register_platform_driver() into plain platform_drivers without the of_platform_driver shim. At which point the of_register_platform_driver()/of_unregister_platform_driver() functions can be removed. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Acked-by: David S. | * of: Merge of_platform_bus_type with platform_bus_typeGrant Likely2010-07-24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | of_platform_bus was being used in the same manner as the platform_bus. The only difference being that of_platform_bus devices are generated from data in the device tree, and platform_bus devices are usually statically allocated in platform code. Having them separate causes the problem of device drivers having to be registered twice if it was possible for the same device to appear on either bus. This patch removes of_platform_bus_type and registers all of_platform bus devices and drivers on the platform bus instead. A previous patch made the of_device structure an alias for the platform_device structure, and a shim is used to adapt of_platform_drivers to the platform bus. After all of of_platform_bus drivers are converted to be normal platform drivers, the shim code can be removed. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Acked-by: David S. | * | of/gpio: stop using device_node data pointer to find gpio_chipGrant Likely2010-07-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently the kernel uses the struct device_node.data pointer to resolve a struct gpio_chip pointer from a device tree node. However, the .data member doesn't provide any type checking and there aren't any rules enforced on what it should be used for. There's no guarantee that the data stored in it actually points to an gpio_chip pointer. Instead of relying on the .data pointer, this patch modifies the code to add a lookup function which scans through the registered gpio_chips and returns the gpio_chip that has a pointer to the specified device_node. | * | of/gpio: Kill of_gpio_chip and add members directly to gpio_chipAnton Vorontsov2010-07-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The OF gpio infrastructure is great for describing GPIO connections within the device tree. However, using a GPIO binding still requires changes to the gpio controller just to add an of_gpio structure. In most cases, the gpio controller doesn't actually need any special support and the simple OF gpio mapping function is more than sufficient. Additional, the current scheme of using of_gpio_chip requires a convoluted scheme to maintain 1:1 mappings between of_gpio_chip and gpio_chip instances. If the struct of_gpio_chip data members were moved into struct gpio_chip, then it would simplify the processing of OF gpio bindings, and it would make it trivial to use device tree OF connections on existing gpiolib controller drivers. This patch eliminates the of_gpio_chip structure and moves the relevant fields into struct gpio_chip (conditional on CONFIG_OF_GPIO). This move simplifies the existing code and prepares for adding automatic device tree support to existing drivers. | * | of/irq: merge irq mapping codeGrant Likely2010-07-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Merge common irq mapping code between PowerPC and Microblaze. This patch merges of_irq_find_parent(), of_irq_map_raw() and of_irq_map_one(). The functions are dependent on one another, so all three are merged in a single patch. Other than cosmetic difference (ie. DBG() vs. pr_debug()), the implementations are identical. of_irq_to_resource() is also merged, but in this case the implementations are different. This patch drops the microblaze version and uses the powerpc implementation unchanged. The microblaze version essentially open-coded irq_of_parse_and_map() which it does not need to do. Therefore the powerpc version is safe to adopt. | * | of/microblaze: strip out of_irq_workarounds codeGrant Likely2010-07-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Microblaze doesn't have any legacy workaround in the device tree irq mapping data. All of the of_irq_workarounds stuff can be dropped Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Cc: Michal Simek <monstr@monstr.eu> Cc: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au>
| * | of/irq: Move irq_of_parse_and_map() to common codeGrant Likely2010-06-28
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Merge common code between PowerPC and Microblaze. SPARC implements irq_of_parse_and_map(), but the implementation is different, so it does not use this code.
