* arch: Remove unnecessary inclusions of asm/semaphore.hMatthew Wilcox2008-04-18
| | | | | | | | | None of these files use any of the functionality promised by asm/semaphore.h. It's possible that they rely on it dragging in some unrelated header file, but I can't build all these files, so we'll have fix any build failures as they come up. * [ARM] 4454/1: Use word accesses in Versatile PCI config readsAndrzej Zaborowski2007-07-02
| | | | | | | | | | | | ARM Versatile PCI config reads of one byte width have the lowest two bits of the address cleared and result in reading from a wrong place in the config space. This change is to use word size accesses like it is done for halfword reads. Byte reads are used for retrieving the IRQ number of a PCI device and the problem was not exposed until 2.6.20 because the value read was discarded in drivers/pci/setup-irq.c (recently fixed). * [ARM] Remove needless linux/ptrace.h includesRussell King2007-04-21
| | | | | | | | | Lots of places in arch/arm were needlessly including linux/ptrace.h, resumably because we used to pass a struct pt_regs to interrupt handlers. Now that we don't, all these ptrace.h includes are redundant. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

| |/ |/| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 63 bit period This provides a 63 bit clock counter guaranteed to be monotonic over a period of 35583 days instead of a clock wrap every 179 seconds, as long as sched_clock() is called at least once every 89 seconds. This should not be a problem in practice, although a kernel timer could be scheduled every 80 seconds for example simply to call sched_clock() making sure top bits are always synchronized if need be. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There's no point having the Versatile PB initialisation using an arch_initcall() and then checking whether it's running on a Versatile PB board - this is what the .init_machine function pointer in the machine description is for. * [ARM] 3860/1: Versatile PCI config byte accessesPaul Brook2006-09-27
| | | | | | | | | | | | The ARM Versatile board PCI config space read routines are broken for byte accesses. The access uses a byte read, so masking the bottom two bits of the address is wrong. I guess this is a cut/paste error from the the halfword code which uses aligned word access+shift+mask. * [ARM] 3739/1: genirq updates: irq_chip, add and use irq_chip.nameDavid Brownell2006-08-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Patch from David Brownell ARM genirq cleanups/updates: - Start switching platforms to newer APIs * use "irq_chip" name, not "irqchip" * providing irq_chip.name - Show irq_chip.name in /proc/interrupts, like on x86. This update a bit more than half of the ARM code. The irq_chip.name values were chosen to match docs (if I have them) or be otherwise obvious ("FPGA", "CPLD", or matching the code). * [ARM] Allow Versatile to be built for AB and PBRussell King2006-07-11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If a configuration was chosen to support both the Versatile AB and PB boards, the result would write to registers not available on the PB version of the board. Resolve this by using machine_is_xxx(). Also, for the CLCD, despite how the code looks, both the AB and PB access the same location to control the clock rate - it's just called something different between the two board versions. Invent our own name for this location and use it unconditionally. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

* [ARM] Fix Integrator and Versatile interrupt initialisationRussell King2006-06-10
| | | | | | | | | | Both Integrator and Versatile were using set_irq_handler() and enable_irq(), and working around the initialisation of the chained interrupt, instead of the more correct set_irq_chained_handler() function. Fix Integrator and Versatile to use the right function, and remove these work-arounds. Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

* [ARM] 3340/1: Fix the PCI setup for direct master access to SDRAMCatalin Marinas2006-02-22
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Patch from Catalin Marinas The initial code did not configure the inbound memory windows for direct master access to the SDRAM. This patch creates a 1:1 mapping between the Versatile/PB PCI memory windows and its SDRAM. Note that an updated FPGA image is needed for Versatile/PB since the original windows were 1MB and not able to cover the whole SDRAM (now extended to 256MB). The patch also fixes the PCI IRQ mapping for slot #2. Signed-off-by: Catalin Marinas <catalin.marinas@arm.com> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

* [ARM] Remove clk_use()/clk_unuse()Russell King2006-01-03

* | [PATCH] fix missing includesTim Schmielau2005-10-30
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I recently picked up my older work to remove unnecessary #includes of sched.h, starting from a patch by Dave Jones to not include sched.h from module.h. This reduces the number of indirect includes of sched.h by ~300. Another ~400 pointless direct includes can be removed after this disentangling (patch to follow later). However, quite a few indirect includes need to be fixed up for this. In order to feed the patches through -mm with as little disturbance as possible, I've split out the fixes I accumulated up to now (complete for i386 and x86_64, more archs to follow later) and post them before the real patch. This way this large part of the patch is kept simple with only adding #includes, and all hunks are independent of each other. So if any hunk rejects or gets in the way of other patches, just drop it. My scripts will pick it up again in the next round. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It's pointless to include mach-types.h if you're not going to use anything from it. * [ARM] Wrap calls to descriptor handlersRussell King2005-09-04
| | | | | | | | | | This is part of Thomas Gleixner's generic IRQ patch, which converts ARM to use the generic IRQ subsystem. Here, we wrap calls to desc->handler() in an inline function, desc_handle_irq(). This reduces the size of Thomas' patch since the changes become more localised. * [PATCH] ARM: Convert ARM timer implementations to use readl/writelRussell King2005-06-29
| | | | | | | | | | | | Convert ARMs timer implementations to use readl/writel instead of accessing the registers via a struct. People have recently asked if accessing timers via a structure is the "right way" and its not the Linux way. So fix this code to conform to "The Linux Way"(tm). Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
