At one point acpi_device_set_id() checks if acpi_device_hid(device)
returns NULL, but that never happens, so system bus devices with an
empty list of PNP IDs are given the dummy HID ("device") instead of
the "system bus HID" ("LNXSYBUS"). Fix the code to use the right
check.

After commit 71fbad6 (PCI/ACPI: Notify PCI devices when their power
resource is turned on) made acpi_pci_bind() call
acpi_power_resource_register_device(), the debug message at the end
of the latter appears in the kernel log for every PCI device that
doesn't happen to have power resources assigned (which is the vast
majority of them). However, this message is totally useless, because
it doesn't even say which device it is about. Moreover, it is
misleading, because it only means that the given device has no power
resources, which isn't exceptional at all.
Remove that useless message altogether and simplify
acpi_power_resource_register_device() slightly.

Since the return value of acpi_bus_get_device() is not of type

When memory hotadd, acpi_memory_enable_device has already been done
at drv->ops.add (acpi_memory_device_add), no need to do it again
at notify callback.
At acpi_memory_enable_device, acpi_memory_get_device_resources
is also a redundant action, since it has been done at drv->ops.add.

If the persistent store is empty initially, the function 'erst_dbg_read'
returns a nonzero value. The better way is to return a zero indicating the
read operation reaches EOF.

The mini-C library implementation is used by the embedded ACPICA users
other than Linux. It was added to the kernel source to make it easier
to incorporate future ACPICA changes, but as it turns our we can avoid
carrying it thanks to some ACPICA release process tweaks, so remove
drivers/acpi/acpica/utclib.c from the kernel source tree.

The patch copies the flags masked by IORESOURCE_BITS from a resource's
template. This is necessary because the resource settings require proper
IORESOURCE_BITS which are not known during the definition of these resources
using the "/sys/bus/pnp/*/*/resources" interface. (In fact, they should not
be set by the user as the resource templates define the proper settings.)
If the patch is not applied, the resource flags are not initialized properly
and obscure messages in the kernel log have been seen ("invalid flags").

This patch factors out the setting of PNP resources into one function which is
then reused for all PNP resource types. This makes the code more concise and
avoids duplication. The parameters "type" and "flags" are not used at the
moment but may be used by follow-up patches. Placeholders for these patches
can be found in the comment lines that contain the "TBD" marker.
As the code does not make any changes to the ABI, no regressions are expected.
NB: While at it, support for bus type resources is added.

If we have mandatory byte-range locks on a file we can't cache reads
because pagereading may have conflicts with these locks on the server.
That's why we should allow level2 oplocks for files without mandatory
locks only.

If we have a read oplock and set a read lock in it, we can't write to the
locked area - so, filemap_fdatawrite may fail with a no information for a
userspace application even if we request a write to non-locked area. Fix
this by writing directly to the server and then breaking oplock level from
level2 to None.
Also remove CONFIG_CIFS_SMB2 ifdefs because it's suitable for both CIFS
and SMB2 protocols.

When a call goes out, the signing code adjusts the sequence number
upward by two to account for the request and the response. An NT_CANCEL
however doesn't get a response of its own, it just hurries the server
along to get it to respond to the original request more quickly.
Therefore, we must adjust the sequence number back down by one after
signing a NT_CANCEL request.

This is likely due to a race vs. a reconnection event.
The current code checks for a NULL socket in smb_send_kvec, but that's
too late. By the time that check is done, the socket will already have
been passed to kernel_setsockopt. Move the check into smb_send_rqst, so
that it's checked earlier.
In truth, this is a bit of a half-assed fix. The -ENOTSOCK error
return here looks like it could bubble back up to userspace. The locking
rules around the ssocket pointer are really unclear as well. There are
cases where the ssocket pointer is changed without holding the srv_mutex,
but I'm not clear whether there's a potential race here yet or not.
This code seems like it could benefit from some fundamental re-think of
how the socket handling should behave. Until then though, this patch
should at least fix the above oops in most cases.

Commit 0d0863b02002 ("sctp: Change defaults on cookie hmac selection")
added a "choice" to the sctp Kconfig file. It introduced a bug which
led to an infinite loop when while running "make oldconfig".
The problem is that the wrong symbol was defined as the default value
for the choice. Using the correct value gets rid of the infinite loop.
Note: if CONFIG_SCTP_COOKIE_HMAC_SHA1=y was present in the input
config file, both that and CONFIG_SCTP_COOKIE_HMAC_MD5=y be present
in the generated config file.

Commit "ext4: Remove CONFIG_EXT4_FS_XATTR" removed the configuration
dependencies for ext4 xattrs from the ext4 ACLs and security labels
configuration options, but did not replace them with a dependency on
ext4 itself. Add back the dependency on ext4 so the options only show
up if ext4 is enabled.

Pull NFS client bugfixes from Trond Myklebust:
- Fix a permissions problem when opening NFSv4 files that only have the

- Work around a series of deadlock issues due to workqueues using
struct work_struct pointer address comparisons in the re-entrancy
tests. Ensure that we don't free struct work_struct prematurely if
our work function involves waiting for completion of other work items
(e.g. by calling rpc_shutdown_client).

nfs_open_permission_mask() should only check MAY_EXEC for files that
are opened with __FMODE_EXEC.
Also fix NFSv4 access-in-open path in a similar way -- openflags must be
used because fmode will not always have FMODE_EXEC set.

Fix build failure if building a monolithic kernel due to
arch/mips/kernel/Kconfig selecting MODULES_USE_ELF_REL[A] without checking

So far we're jumping through hoops to keep the file usable from assembler
source but it's getting just too painful. Turns out that many uses of
<asm/page.h> are unnecessary anyway, so just remove those.

Now that the r4k timer is registered no matter what, bump the rating of
the Alchemy 32kHz timer so that it gets used when it is working,
and fall back on the r4k when it isn't.
This fixes a timer-related hang on platform with a working 32kHz timer
(the better rated c0 timer stops while executing 'wait' leading to (almost)
eternal sleep) and an oops on boot on platforms without a working 32kHz
timer (due to double registration of the r4k timer).

print_prefix() passes a NULL buf to print_time() to get the length of
the time prefix; when printk times are enabled, the current code just
returns the constant 15, which matches the format "[%5lu.%06lu] " used
to print the time value. However, this is obviously incorrect when the
whole seconds part of the time gets beyond 5 digits (100000 seconds is a
bit more than a day of uptime).
The simple fix is to use snprintf(NULL, 0, ...) to calculate the actual
length of the time prefix. This could be micro-optimized but it seems
better to have simpler, more readable code here.
The bug leads to the syslog system call miscomputing which messages fit
into the userspace buffer. If there are enough messages to fill
log_buf_len and some have a timestamp >= 100000, dmesg may fail with:

klogctl: Bad address
When this happens, strace shows that the failure is indeed EFAULT due to
the kernel mistakenly accessing past the end of dmesg's buffer, since
dmesg asks the kernel how big a buffer it needs, allocates a bit more,
and then gets an error when it asks the kernel to fill it:

As far as I can see, the bug has been there as long as print_time(),
which comes from commit 084681d14e42 ("printk: flush continuation lines
immediately to console") in 3.5-rc5.

tm_mon is 0..11, whereas vt8500 expects 1..12 for the month field,
causing invalid date errors for January, and causing the day field to
roll over incorrectly.
The century flag is only handled in vt8500_rtc_read_time, but not set in
vt8500_rtc_set_time. This patch corrects the behaviour of the century
flag.

Control register bitfield for 12H/24H mode is handled incorrectly.
Setting CR_24H actually enables 12H mode. This patch renames the define
and changes the initialization code to correctly set 24H mode.

Add an RTC driver for TPS6586X chips by TI. This driver supports:
- Setting and getting time and date.
- Setting and reading alarm time.
- Alarm and interrupt functionlity.
