* sched: remove precise CPU loadIngo Molnar2007-10-15
| | | | | | | | | | | | CPU load calculations are statistical anyway, and there's little benefit from having it calculated on every scheduling event. So remove this code, it gets rid of a divide from the scheduler wakeup and context-switch fastpath. | * x86: force timer broadcast on late AMD C1E detectionThomas Gleixner2007-10-14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The 64bit SMP bootup is slightly different to the 32bit one. It enables the boot CPU local APIC timer before all CPUs are brought up. Some AMD C1E systems have the C1E feature flag only set in the secondary CPU. Due to the early enable of the boot CPU local APIC timer the APIC timer is registered as a fully functional device. When we detect the wreckage during the bringup of the secondary CPU, we need to force the boot CPU into broadcast mode. Check the C1E caused APIC timer disable, when the secondary APIC timer is initialized. If the boot CPU APIC timer was registered as a functional clock event device, then fix this up and utilize the CLOCK_EVT_NOTIFY_BROADCAST_FORCE mechanism to force the already registered boot CPU APIC timer into broadcast mode. Tested by force injecting the failure mode. Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The bank switching code assumes that the bank selector is set to 0 when the driver is loaded. This might not be the case. This is exactly the same bug as was fixed in the w83627ehf driver two months ago: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=0956895aa6f8dc6a33210967252fd7787652537d In practice, this bug was causing the sensor thermal types to be improperly reported for my W83627THF the first time I was loading the w83627hf driver. From the driver history, I'd say that it has been broken since September 2005 (when we stopped resetting the chip by default at driver load.) | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds support for the SMSC SCH3112, SCH3114, and SCH3116 Super-I/O chips. These chips feature identical hardware monitoring capabilites with the expection that some of the fan inputs and pmw outputs don't exist.
