Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!

* Unfortunately, the above chapter mentions neither
* the System Configuration Pointer (SCP) nor the
* Intermediate System Configuration Pointer (ISCP),
* so we probably need to look elsewhere for the
* whole story -- some recommend the "Intel LAN

* nor a full reference. But "elsewhere" may be
* in the same publication...
* The description of a later device, the
* "82596CA High-Performance 32-Bit Local Area Network
* Coprocessor", (ibid. p1-38 to p1-109) does mention
* the SCP and ISCP and also has an i82586 compatibility
