Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.
Let it rip!

2 | README file for the PCBIT-D Device Driver.
3 | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 | |||
5 | The PCBIT is a Euro ISDN adapter manufactured in Portugal by Octal and
6 | developed in cooperation with Portugal Telecom and Inesc.
7 | The driver interfaces with the standard kernel isdn facilities
8 | originally developed by Fritz Elfert in the isdn4linux project.
9 | |||
10 | The common versions of the pcbit board require a firmware that is
11 | distributed (and copyrighted) by the manufacturer. To load this
12 | firmware you need "pcbitctl" available on the standard isdn4k-utils
13 | package or in the pcbit package available in:
14 | |||
15 | ftp://ftp.di.fc.ul.pt/pub/systems/Linux/isdn
16 | |||
17 | Known Limitations: | ||
18 | |||
19 | - The board reset procedure is at the moment incorrect and will only
20 | allow you to load the firmware after a hard reset.
21 | |||
22 | - Only HDLC in B-channels is supported at the moment. There is no
23 | current support for X.25 in B or D channels nor LAPD in B
24 | channels. The main reason is that these two other protocol modes have,
25 | to my knowledge, very little use. If you want to see them implemented
26 | *do* send me a mail. | ||
27 | |||
28 | - The driver often triggers errors in the board that I and the
29 | manufacturer believe to be caused by bugs in the firmware. The current
30 | version includes several procedures for error recovery that should
31 | allow normal operation. Plans for the future include cooperation with
32 | the manufacturer in order to solve this problem.
33 | |||
34 | Information/hints/help can be obtained in the linux isdn
35 | mailing list (isdn4linux@listserv.isdn4linux.de) or directly from me.
36 | |||
37 | regards, | ||
38 | Pedro. | ||
