* qeth: display "undefined" value of sysfs-attribute "layer2"Ursula Braun2009-08-26
| | | | | | | | | | | If nothing has been written into the qeth sysfs-attribute layer2, its value is "-1" meaning "not yet defined". But the value is displayed as "1" meaning "layer2 selected". The patch changes the reading of this "-1"-value to "-1" to make clear the layer2-attribute has not yet been defined. Signed-off-by: Ursula Braun <ursula.braun@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* qeth: display service_level info only when valid.Klaus-Dieter Wacker2009-08-26
| | | | | | | | | | qeth displayed an entry in /proc/service_level even when no valid MCL-string was available (the MCL info is blank). The change is to create an entry in /proc/service_level only when MCL-string is non-zero. Signed-off-by: Klaus-Dieter Wacker <kdwacker@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* qeth: scheduling while atomic during ifconfig online sequenceFrank Blaschka2009-08-26
| | | | | | | | | | | In case the IP address list contains entries (not removed when the device was set offline) this entries should be registered next time the device is brought online. In the past this was done implicitly with the device open call but since we wait in the set IPv4 IPA and the device open common code holds various locks this does not work any longer. * qeth: HiperSockets SIGA retry support on CC=2.Klaus-Dieter Wacker2009-08-26
| | | | | | | | | | Qeth HiperSockets support now retries sending of packets when the IBM System z signals a temporary resource shortage (e.g. target buffer full). The packet is enqueued into the device queue. After 3 times of unsuccessful send the packet is dropped. Signed-off-by: Klaus-Dieter Wacker <kdwacker@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * net: convert remaining non-symbolic return values in ndo_start_xmit() functionsPatrick McHardy2009-07-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | This patch converts the remaining occurences of raw return values to their symbolic counterparts in ndo_start_xmit() functions that were missed by the previous automatic conversion. Additionally code that assumed the symbolic value of NETDEV_TX_OK to be zero is changed to explicitly use NETDEV_TX_OK. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. * net: use NETDEV_TX_OK instead of 0 in ndo_start_xmit() functionsPatrick McHardy2009-07-05
| | | | | | | | | | | This patch is the result of an automatic spatch transformation to convert all ndo_start_xmit() return values of 0 to NETDEV_TX_OK. Some occurences are missed by the automatic conversion, those will be handled in a seperate patch. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. | * net: group address list and its countJiri Pirko2009-06-18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch is inspired by patch recently posted by Johannes Berg. Basically what my patch does is to group list and a count of addresses into newly introduced structure netdev_hw_addr_list. This brings us two benefits: 1) struct net_device becames a bit nicer. 2) in the future there will be a possibility to operate with lists independently on netdevices (with exporting right functions). I wanted to introduce this patch before I'll post a multicast lists conversion. | * | s390: remove driver_data direct access of struct deviceGreg Kroah-Hartman2009-06-16
| |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In the near future, the driver core is going to not allow direct access to the driver_data pointer in struct device. Instead, the functions dev_get_drvdata() and dev_set_drvdata() should be used. These functions have been around since the beginning, so are backwards compatible with all older kernel versions. Thanks to Sebastian Ott <sebott@linux.vnet.ibm.com> for fixing a few typos in my original version of this patch. * | net: convert unicast addr listJiri Pirko2009-05-30

It also relaxes the locking. Original spinlock (still used for multicast addresses) is not needed and is no longer used for a protection of this list. All reading and writing takes place under rtnl (with no changes). I also removed a possibility to specify the length of the address while adding or deleting unicast address. It's always dev->addr_len. The convertion touched especially e1000 and ixgbe codes when the change is not so trivial. * | qeth: avoid crash after detach of replugged deviceUrsula Braun2009-05-20
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If a qeth device is plugged off, setting the device online stops in state HARDSETUP and a failure is reported to the base cio-layer causing halt/clear to be invoked. Replugging the device again triggers a qeth recovery without notification of the cio-layer. If a device is ungrouped in this state, the qeth set_offline function is not invoked, because the corresponding ccwgroup device is not in state ONLINE. Then incoming traffic is still handled by the qdio layer resulting in a crash in qeth_l<x>_qdio_input_handler, because (part of) the qeth data structures for this device are already removed. Solution: After replugging the device qeth recovery should lead to a working net device. Thus a "LAN offline" result when setting a qeth device online must not report a failure to the base cio-layer. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Errors from SIGA instructions are stored in the per queue qdio_error and reported back when the queue handler is called.
