* bnx2x: Removing old PHY FW upgrade codeEilon Greenstein2009-08-13
| | | | | | | | | This code should not have resided in the driver. Now that we have a new interface, this logic can reside in the application that whishes to upgrade the PHY FW Signed-off-by: Eilon Greenstein <eilong@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* bnx2x: Supporting PHY FW upgradeEilon Greenstein2009-08-13
| | | | | | | | | There are 3 operations that the driver needs to support to allow applications to access the PHY FW (on top of the MDC/MDIO access). Since those are essentially nvram access commands, adding them to the ethtool -E interface. Signed-off-by: Eilon Greenstein <eilong@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* bnx2x: BCM8727 FW loadEilon Greenstein2009-08-13
| | | | | | | | | | The BCM8727 is a dual port PHY. The FW must be loaded in a given order on all designs - including those which swapped the ports (calling port number zero the second port) Signed-off-by: Yaniv Rosner <yanivr@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: Eilon Greenstein <eilong@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * bnx2x: BCM8481 LED4 instead of LASIEilon Greenstein2009-08-13
| | | | | | | | | | The BCM8481 does not generate LASI interrupt for 10M, 100M and 1G link, so we are using LED4 output as the interrupt input to the 57711. This requires some adaptation in the link interrupt routines Signed-off-by: Yaniv Rosner <yanivr@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: Eilon Greenstein <eilong@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * | bnx2x: Supporting BCM8727 PHYEilon Greenstein2009-07-21
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | Adding support for BCM8727 - a dual port SFP+ PHY. That includes verification of the optic module vendor and part number - the list of approved modules resides on the nvram and the module is verified by the FW. Since not all users would like to use this verification feature, it can be disabled. The default behavior is to issue a warning if the module is not approved, but still allow using it - but it is also possible to disable the link if the module is not approved. * bnx2x: Supporting BCM8726 PHYEilon Greenstein2009-02-16
| | | | | | | | | | | | Also adding the ability to recognize the optic module and disable it if it is not authorized for safety reasons - since this feature might upset some users which are willing to take the risk, it is optional and can be disabled by setting an nvram bit (or a trivial driver patch to set this bit). | | | | | | | | | | | | These are now defined in linux/mii.h and the bnx2x driver defines different values which are shared with hardware data structures. So add a "BNX2X_" prefix to these macro names. Based upon a report from Stephen Rothwell. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* bnx2x: Minor code improvementsEilon Greenstein2008-08-13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Minor code improvements Small changes to make the code a little bit more efficient and mostly more readable: - Using unified macros for EMAC_RD/WR which looks like normal REG_RD/WR - Removing the NIG_WR since it did nothing and was only confusing - On bnx2x_panic_dump, print only the used parts of the rings - define parameters only on the branch they are needed and not at the beginning of the function - using NETIF_MSG_INTR and not private BNX2X_MSG_SP for debug prints Signed-off-by: Eilon Greenstein <eilong@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * bnx2x: 8073 PHY changesYaniv Rosner2008-08-13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | 8073 PHY changes The initial support we had for this PHY needs some serious changing. The major change is that this PHY should be initialized only when the first function is loaded and not for each function. The official SPI-ROM of this PHY was released and it requires some changes in the initialization code as well Signed-off-by: Yaniv Rosner <yanivr@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: Eilon Greenstein <eilong@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* bnx2x: Change GPIO for any portEilon Greenstein2008-08-13
| | | | | | | | | | Change GPIO for any port The set GPIO function should receive the port index to allow changing the GPIO of another port. * bnx2x: Pause settingsYaniv Rosner2008-08-13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Pause settings - 1G pause was not working due to missing write to the emac block (TX_MODE_FLOW_EN) - The flow control should use the negotiated result (after autoneg) so we should save both the requested autoneg and the result - The HW credits with flow control at 1G speed were not optimized and caused low throughput - It is recommended to turn off flow control if the MTU is bigger than 5000B due to internal buffers size Signed-off-by: Yaniv Rosner <yanivr@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: Eilon Greenstein <eilong@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * bnx2x: Link order with external PHYYaniv Rosner2008-08-13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Link order with external PHY When external PHY exists (second chip with the PHY to translate to another physical medium) the link with the eternal PHY and the network should be established before setting the link between the 5771x and the PHY. This is the right order and it is important when using autoneg - the link to the network should use the autoneg and the link between the two chips should be forced to the network result. * bnx2x: Add support for BCM57711 HWEilon Greenstein2008-06-23
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Supporting the 57711 and 57711E - refers to in the code as E1H. The 57710 is referred to as E1. To support the new members in the family, the bnx2x structure was divided to 3 parts: common, port and function. These changes caused some rearrangement in the bnx2x.h file. A set of accessories macros were added to make access to the bnx2x structure more readable Signed-off-by: Eilon Greenstein <eilong@broadcom.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* bnx2x: Adding bnx2x_linkYaniv Rosner2008-06-23
