This should improve responsiveness during umount and balance which at some point waits for cleaning all currently queued dead roots. A new dead root is added to the end of the list, so the snapshots disappear in the order of deletion. This takes up quite a bit of space. Make a new key type for metadata which holds the level as the offset and completely removes storing the btrfs_tree_block_info inside the extent ref. This reduces the size from 51 bytes to 33 bytes per extent reference for each tree block. In practice this results in a 30-35% decrease in the size of our extent tree, which means we COW less and can keep more of the extent tree in memory which makes our heavy metadata operations go much faster. This is not an automatic format change, you must enable it at mkfs time or with btrfstune. So add a bunch of tests to try and fully test btrfs_remove_free_space since the only time it is called is during tree log replay. These tests all finish successfully, so as we find more of these bugs we need to add to these tests to make sure we don't regress in fixing things. This can fail after the system has been running for some time as it is a high order allocation. Add a fallback to vmalloc so that it doesn't require contiguous memory and so won't randomly fail while xfsdump is running. This was done for xfs_attrlist_by_handle but xfs_compat_attrlist_by_handle (the 32-bit version) needs the same attention. There are many cases where all we want to do is run a kernel with more bounds checking enabled, such as is provided by the ASSERT() statements throughout the code, but without all the potential overhead and drawbacks. This patch converts all the ASSERT statements to evaluate as WARN_ON(1) statements and hence if they fail dump a warning and a stack trace to the log. This has minimal overhead and does not change any algorithms, and will allow us to find strange "out of bounds" problems more easily on production machines. There are a few places where assert statements contain debug only code. These are converted to be debug-or-warn only code so that we still get all the assert checks in the code. Concurrent calls to setup the data server connection can race where the first call allocates the nfs_client struct, and before the cache struct nfs_client pointer can be set, a second call also tries to setup the connection, finds the already allocated nfs_client, bumps the reference count, re-initializes the session,etc. This results in a hanging data server session after umount. Thus the driver needs the status interrupt endpoint always active so that the Reset indication can be received even if the netdev is closed, which is the case right after device insertion. If the Reset indication is not received by the driver, it continues sending SYNC messages to the firmware, which crashes about 10 seconds later and the device stops responding. Add functions to refcount the status interrupt URB submit/kill operation so that sub-drivers and the generic driver don't fight over whether the status interrupt URB is active or not. A sub-driver can call usbnet_status_start() at any time, but the URB is only submitted the first time the function is called. Likewise, when the sub-driver is done with the URB, it calls usbnet_status_stop() but the URB is only killed when all users have stopped it. The URB is still killed and re-submitted for suspend/resume, as before, with the same refcount it had at suspend. Each CQ-notify with rearm can result in an event. The EQ may get full resulting in a HW error. Fix this by not re-arming the CQ while notifying a valid completion. Also, there's no need to wait for 1ms after destroying RXQ, as the code in be_rx_cq_clean() waits for the flush compl to arrive. So for whatever reason, Linux kernel should not do MMCFG PCI config access to those devices. Instead, always use configuration mechanism 1 for those devices. The 00:00.0, 00:02.0 and 00:03.0 devices are built-in single-function devices and are not PCI-PCI bridges, so this set of devices should be complete.
